They were finally summoned.
Kakashi gave Naruto and Sakura a serious stare. "Listen, you two must report to the capital and assist Itachi and Izumi. The crow we planned to send earlier was killed. We need to get this information to them right away, and you two are probably the only ones who can help them right now. If you hurry now, you might make it by tomorrow night."
Naruto and Sakura exchanged confident glances and grins. Then Naruto smiled broadly and gave him a thumbs up. "On it!"
Sakura smiled brightly at Kakashi. "Right!" she exclaimed.
"You are both dismissed!" Kakashi yelled as Naruto and Sakura dashed out of the room.
Itachi and Izumi's reinforcements were finally on their way!
-
"I-Itachi! What is that!" Izumi screamed in terror at the giant standing before them all.
He was able to fight it off with his susanoo, but he was not sure if he still had the strength. He killed Kazuki because the situation had gotten out of control.
"Damn it! Izumi, what happened to you!?" Itachi asked.
Izumi could sense his fear and concern, but she did not understand why he was more concerned about her than the monster in front of them!"
Nevertheless, she responded to him. "I-I'm fine! But, Itachi-" She was abruptly cut off when the monster pushed him into a wall.
This shocked Kan and Izumi, who were both focused on what was going on.
Little did Izumi know, Kan was a master of manipulating.
Despite his state, he was able to rise and run towards Izumi with a kunai. When he reached her, he stabbed her once more.
She looked at him, alarmed and puzzled, "W-What..."
"IZUMI!" Itachi exclaimed. He stabbed the shadow with the susanoos Totsuks blade, which screeched loudly.
Izumi collapsed to the floor, kunai stuck in her side, and covered her ears from the shadow's loud screeching.
Before Kan could flee, Itachi set him on fire with the last chakra he had-the Amaterasu.
The shadow was quickly sealed, and Itachi ran to Izumi, who was bleeding profusely.
He did not care how hurt or weakened he was in his current state; Izumi came first.
As soon as he reached her, he placed her on his lap and examined her injuries. "I-I..." He had no idea what to say anymore.
Itachi's fear began to grow as he realized he would lose her.
Itachi had lost interest in everything he had previously told her. He realized right now that he wanted and loved Izumi more than ever.
"Why are you crying, Itachi?" Izumi whispered to him, surprised. Itachi touched his eyes and looked down at his tear-stained fingers.
Itachi was not unable to heal her because he lacked knowledge of medical ninjutsu. Izumi was the only one who knew, but he was not sure if she possessed the strength or chakra to perform it on herself.
"Do you have any chakra? I do not know how to perform any medical-" He was cut off when he noticed her wound slowly healing.
Itachi let out a huge sigh of relief when he realized she still had the power to heal herself.
Izumi gave him a soft smile. She had never seen this side of Itachi. It was very different from his other sides. She was aware of how caring and kind he was to others, but she never imagined he would overreact like that.
"I was not going to die... idiot," Izumi laughed.
Itachi looked at her, embarrassed. His face flushed red, "Did you not notice where he hit you!? If you had not known any medical ninjutsu, you would have died by now!" Itachi explained.
He turned away from her and toward Kan, who was still burning from the amaterasu.
"He manipulated me." Izumi stated as she slowly rose. Itachi returned her gaze and rushed to help her.
Itachi looked at her, puzzled. "What do you mean," he inquired.
She looked at him tiredly and said, "He started complimenting me, and his tone... He seemed to have had a significant change of heart. I easily let my guard down, which may seem silly. I should have killed him when I had the opportunity..." Izumi felt embarrassed.
Itachi looked at her in disbelief, "Really!? You let some random silver-haired guy compliment you, only to be taken down so easily! Listen, if you wanted compliments, you should have come to me and we would have talked for hours!" Itachi exclaimed at her.
She looked at him with a red face, as did Itachi, but he did not care about what had happened between them. "Izumi, you are the most beautiful woman I have ever met! If you ever feel like you are not enough, come to me, and I will make you feel like you are! Because you are more than enough for me; you are everything I need to feel better!"
Itachi looked down, panting. Silence filled the room. They could not speak to each other anymore. When he looked up at her, tears streamed down her face.
"Itachi... Thank you..." She said this before she burst into tears in front of him.
At this point, he had no idea what to do. They were both a mess, weak and hurt. If the enemy had approached them, they would have died long ago.
Instead, they were crying and making confessions to one another.
They were both love sick, and neither one knows how to express or communicate it to each other.
What a shame.
