Sai and Kakasi went through the books multiple times. Trying to understand what it all means.

Kakashi grabbed a paper from the library table and read it one more time, "Eyes of fate... I would heard about them once, but I was not convinced they were all true." Kakashi spoke as he set the paper down.

Sai put down another stack of papers, spreading them out on the table. "The clan has become extinct. Only a few people have Hoshizoro blood, but I do not think they are as strong as they were in their prime."

Kakashi nodded in agreement. Shikamaru appeared unexpectedly and approached the library table. "Let me guess, this mission became more of a chore, did not it?" Shikamaru asked, placing his hand against his face.

"Well, sort of. We are looking to see what we can find about the enemy. According to what we know, they have a unique visual ability that allows them to see into the past and future."Kakashi replied.

Shikamaru's eyes widened at his statement: "F-Future and the past!?" he exclaimed.

"Yes, and that is not all. With each human sacrifice, their vessel for the eyes becomes stronger than ever, allowing them to experience a significant increase in chakra. My theory is that all of the women and children discovered by team eight were human sacrifices that the vessel had already killed," Kakashi said brightly.

He crossed his eyes and let out a loud groan, "If my theory is correct, Itachi and Izumi are dealing with an S-class criminal here with more chakra than a tailed beast." His eyes narrowed.

Shikamaru gave him a wide-eyed look.

Everyone at the table went silent as they considered ways to eliminate the enemy.

It was all impossible; they had a jutsu that allowed them to see into the future and the past. It does not seem real, and if the enemy reaches 400 human sacrifices, the mission is jeopardized.

"I have a strategy, but it will be very risky." Shikamaru spoke through narrowed eyes.

Sai and Kakashi stared at him, their ears wide open.

Shikamaru's plan was unquestionably effective. A man with an IQ of over two-thousand. When someone like that serves as Naruto's adviser, anything will do.

Three enemies stood guard on the streets at night. If Itachi and Izumi could simply catch and control one of them, they might be able to find a way into the cellars.

Itachi looked at Izumi, who was already prepared with her sharigan.

He was going to knock out the enemies, and as soon as he did, Izumi would leap down and control them with her jutsu.

Izumi whispered, "Be careful, Itachi." Itachi gave her a surprised look. He quickly turned away from her and stood up with only his shuriken jutsu.

The enemies were alarmed by the shuriken and quickly took their positions. Huh? Shuriken!?" One person yelled out.

Itachi jumped down and activated his Sharigan. He dashed through the street, knocking out all the enemies.

He stared at them coldly.

Izumi quickly jumped down and dashed towards the ninja in front of Itachi. After placing her hand on the enemy, she activated her mangekyō sharigan and took control of them.

Her breathing quickened as she sensed the chakra draining from her. Izumi was still struggling with the mangekyō sharigan, but there was no time for her to take a break.

Itachi kept Izumi still while pouring everything she could into the enemy. She then collapsed backwards into Itachi's arms. "D-Done..." Izumi exhaled.

Her forehead was dripping with sweat, and her chest was heaving heavily. Nonetheless, she remained determined to do more.

He looked at her with amusement. Itachi realized Izumi was no longer the little girl he had once told, "Stop being a shinobi."

She was a woman now, and he is more than happy that she did not listen to him that day.

Because she is a skilled shinobi with great strength.

Itachi released her as she rose from his arms. Despite feeling weak after using the mangekyō sharigan, she remained focused and determined.

"If you need a break, just let me know, and-" Izumi glared at him, prompting Itachi to quickly shut up.

"No, I can do this. I can still fight!" Izumi exclaimed, panting.

Itachi stood up and looked down at the enemy under Izumi's control.

If this plan works, they may be able to gather more information about the main enemy than Team Eight was able to do.

He grabbed the enemy and carried him on his back, while Itachi and Izumi leaped back to their original hiding place.

As soon as they arrived, Izumi set about extracting all of the enemy's information.

She worked her chakra through him, and he eventually awoke. "H-Huh, where am I!? Who are you two, bastards!?" The enemy exclaimed.

Sweat poured down his face as he met Itachi's intense stare. More specifically, the three tomoe that represented Itachi's sharigan.

The man stammered, "N-No way! The sharigan," he then murmured.

He turned to Izumi, who had already activated hers and was getting to work.

"Nami, do you know anything about Lady Ayame?" Izumi asked.

The man glared at her. "I will never talk about Lady Ayame! She's-" Nami fell face forward as Izumi used her jutsu.

Nami spoke in hushed tones: "Our leader, Lady A-Ayame, has ordered us to kill all members of the Hoshizoro clan."

Itachi's eyes narrowed. "Tell us about the Hoshizoro clan. What exactly are they?" Itachi asked.

"They are an extinct clan with powerful chakra... They killed the Hoshizora clan, which Lady Ayame belonged to. She possesses what is known as the eyes of fate. A look at our futures, and we're-" The man's mouth started to bubble up. Izumi and Itachi looked at him with surprise.

Itachi's eyes widened when he saw Nami's eyes turn blue. He dashed to Izumi and jumped out of the hideout, clutching her tightly. They landed softly in a bush and watched as the hideout exploded.

"A curse mark?" Itachi wondered. He looked down at Izumi, who appeared disturbed by the hideout.

She gasped when she sensed his chakra.

There was nothing. Meaning he was killed by whatever caused the explosion.

"How awful..." Izumi spoke holding her chest.

Itachi shook his head in agreement.

"She must be aware that we are here," Izumi said.

Itachi looked at her, puzzled, "What do you mean?"

"As soon as his eyes turned blue, I detected a dark chakra emanating from him. It was so different from his, and it felt so foreboding. Whatever she cast on him, she could look into him at any time. Itachi, she knows." Izumi said, looking up at him intently.

He looked away shyly and said, "I see..." Itachi responded.

The hideout burned, and they both just watched as it did.

They both found strange comfort in each other, and they felt safe knowing they had each other's back.
