Chapter 5, Part 3

FLASHBACK

Izumi ran for her life as she attempted to flee the horrific event.

She wanted to find her parents.

She wandered the streets looking for her parents, hoping to see any of them.

Hiding in an alleyway, tears fell from her eyes as she tried to wipe them away while screaming for her parents, "Mom! Dad!" she yelled through her tears.

Her tiny hand glided along the wall.

Then a young boy's voice emerged from behind. Her eyes widened, and she turned, teary eyes meeting onyx ones.

They seemed fierce and loyal. "Here, quickly! "Grab my hand!" the young boy shouted as he extended his hand to her.

She wiped her tears again and dashed towards him, holding out her hand. When she grabbed him, she felt herself being dragged away and hidden under his shirt. The alleyway had collapsed, and if he had not arrived in time, she would be dead.

Izumi looked up and saw the boy once more. She had not realized he was carrying a baby as well. Her eyes widened as she recognized the boy with raven-like features.

Itachi Uchiha, the son of Fugaku Uchiha. Itachi's father is the head of the Uchiha police force and the clan's leader.

His arm wrapped around her waist, and their gazes met once more. He looked at her, concerned, as he examined her for injuries. However, she was unharmed and safe now.

"Hurry, let us go find shelter," Itachi said calmly, nodding.

When he started running, Izumi grabbed his shirt because she did not want to lose the young boy.

Itachi had found his father while on their way there. His eyes widened, and he quickly told her to follow everyone else to safety as well. "Go, I will be right behind you," Itachi said, looking at him with fear.

His eyes narrowed, but he did not seem amused.

She would always know his name. Her mother had previously mentioned him and his father, as well as how cold he was perceived to be.

But she had ignored the rumors until now. Now she is looking into his eyes.

"O-Okay..." Izumi responded as she let go of his shirt. She continued walking, and the hand that had previously gripped his shirt found its way to her chest.

"I-Itachi Uchiha... So that is what he is really like," Izumi thought to herself.

Her eyes darted to the direction in which the ninja began running.

Her eyes widened at the sight.

A dead ninja. And worse, it was her father. Tears flowed from her eyes once more. However, this time they burned.

She could no longer babble like before, but she refused to accept it. She could not believe it was not her father!

Izumi dashed toward her father, only to be stopped by a strong pair of hands. "H-Hey! Where are you going!" As Itachi attempted to hold her back, a young voice spoke up.

"D-Dad! Please, Itachi, Dad!" Itachi grabbed her and forced her to go up to the safe houses.

She had no more reason to cry after they arrived.

She followed Itachi into a room, and they sat down.

Her hand remained fixed on Itachi's shirt, while her other rubbed her burned eyes.

Both were exhausted from crying and desiring nothing but sleep.

But, aside from that, she could not shake the strange feeling she had about them and herself.

She felt drained, and her vision seemed clearer but also blurrier than before.

Then she passed out just before Itachi, who had only captured her.

Her eyes opened to Itachi's dark ones. They were not as cold as they had previously been. They were scared and concerned. His eyes widened when her eyes were fully open.

"I-What... your eyes..." Itachi muttered as he pressed her against him.

She only looked at him, stunned by his words. "The... Sharigan?" he muttered, looking at her, curious about how she had them.

Izumi looked at him, dumbfounded by his words.

No one had ever mentioned the Sharigan to her, and her parents did not expect that she would ever activate it.

Her mother, a Uchiha, was said to have it, but she never told her half-blood daughter about it, just in case.

But now, Izumi has demonstrated that, despite her half-blooded status, she, too, can possess the Sharigan and wield power.

She is a Uchiha, even if others think otherwise.
