"Kaitlyn, Kaitlyn, Bailey yelled into the phone. Are you alright? What's happening?" When there was no answer, Bailey threw the phone down and raced from her parent's home. She got into her car and headed to the dorms, thinking this was where they were. She had to get there to help Kaitlyn and save her from her father. As she drove, she swore if that bastard hurt Kaitlyn, she would kill him. She could go to the police, but she figured they would think it was a rebellious college girl disagreeing with her father. All kinds of terrible thoughts raced through her head as she continued to drive frantically to the college dorms. What was her father capable of? Would he hurt his flesh and blood? If so, how far would he go? Was Kaitlyn's life in danger? These things kept entering her mind and caused her to reach the dorm in half the time it should have.
Bailey slammed on her car's brakes, opened the door, and ran to their room. Inside the furniture was turned upside down where there had been a struggle. Her mind raced as she tried to think of where he might have taken Kaitlyn. She thought of calling the police again, but what if they did not take the situation seriously? She decided the police may not reach Kaitlyn in time. Jax, she thought, yes, he could reach them the fastest. They had to return to Druid Hills, and Jax could use his jet to get to her. He was even here in California, having a concert tonight. If she hurried, she would get there before he took the stage. She knew he loved Kaitlyn once and most likely still did, that he would help her. Once again, she ran to her car, jumped in, and drove like a maniac to the concert.
Jax stood backstage, waiting for their concert to start. It was almost impossible for him to be around these past three months. Again, he thought Jewel was the only one he let near him, and that was for just a few hours of sex, a few hours that his heart did not but bleed for Kaitlyn. Afterward, he would dismiss Jewel as if she were just a piece of trash, but recently, that changed. He and Jewel had become close. She reminded him of how they first met at a strip club where she danced years ago. How she let him believe she was nothing but a groupie that slept with the entire band. She confessed it had been a lie that she regretted to this day.
Jax felt remorse that he was sometimes cruel to Jewel, especially after she reminded him of their past together. He wanted to make amends for thinking the worst of her all those years ago. The truth was he had become more withdrawn since losing Kaitlyn. He felt more rage and despair than he ever had before meeting her. He hoped she would have come to her senses by now. She would have realized she could not live without him as he knew he could not. The problem was she never did. He knew he must stop taking his bitterness out on Jewel. She had proven her loyalty and feelings for him countless times.
Jax had almost gone off to find Kaitlyn a few times but always decided it was best just to let her go. He thought she would have seen him by now if she wanted him back in her life. She would have come to him and told him she missed him, that she craved his body as he craved hers. He was too stubborn to go after her, but he wrote her a letter. He wondered now if she had received it. He could not move on until he could find some closure; only then could he try to give Jewel the affection she deserved.
Jax smoked the rest of his cigarette and started towards the stage. Before walking onto it, he heard Leg shouting his name. He turned to see her standing behind the stronghold of his bodyguard, yelling that she needed to speak with him. "Let her go," he yelled at his guard, wondering what she could want to talk to him about. He soon found out; Bailey ran up to him, nearly knocking him over in her state of chaos. He grabbed her arm to steady her as he looked into her face.
"Jax, thank God I got here on time. It's Kaitlyn, her father, he has taken her. He took her by force. She called me begging for help, but something cut her off. I went to the dorm, and everything was trashed. Please, you must help her. I think he has taken her back home to Druid Hills. If you love her at all, please, please save her," Bailey begged. Jax looked from her to Nick and the others.
"Why did you not call the police, Bailey," Jax grumbled, slightly shaking her.
"I was afraid they wouldn't believe me, especially since her father is a minister," Bailey cried.
"Jax, man, let the police handle this. There is not anything you can do for that chick. I am sure her father wouldn't harm her. We have a show to do; let's go, come on," Nick shouted.
"No, I can't go out on stage, Nick. I love her and must go after her; she needs me. I'm sorry," Jax replied. Nick stared at Jax in shock as he spoke.
"You know, the more I get to know you, Jax, I realize I never really knew you." Instead of replying to Nick's words, Jax shrugged and ran from the room, leaving the band alone. He had not even asked Bailey if she wanted to go. He knew he had to do this alone. He was frantic about reaching Kaitlyn, so he called for his jet, practically running to get inside. So many thoughts filled his head. He had told Nick he loved Kaitlyn and realized he indeed did, so much that he hurt inside without her. He loved her more than his music and the stage, more than anything in his life, even more than himself.
Jax knew deep down inside of himself that if Kaitlyn's father had hurt her in any way, he would kill him. He would not care if he spent the rest of his life behind bars as long as she was safe from this man. He also knew he would never let her go once he got her from her father, even if she did not want to be with him. He had to have her by his side because he needed her like a fish needed the water to live. She had become his reason to live ever since he first saw her at his concert, watching him as if he were a wolf in some fairy tale. Ironically, he had to save her like a prince would save his beloved. He laughed, thinking fate could deal with some strange cards.
Kaitlyn's face filled Jax's head, and tears fell from his eyes. He thought he should have gone after her three months ago when she walked out on him instead of being a stubborn fool. He
I should have just forced her to let go of all her fears. It helped her to leave them behind, take a chance, and live in the moment. He remembered how she once told him she wanted to be free. Now was her chance to have that freedom with him. He would take her with him back to California and from there on the rest of the tour. She was going to go even if he had to drag her kicking and screaming the whole way. He was tired of fighting his love and desire for her. He had to stop here and now, ready to tell her he loved her. To say to her he refused to live without her; he was finished with the drugs and drinking.
As Jax thought of all these things, he could not wait to hold Kaitlyn in his arms, touch her, and prove he loved her. First things first, he reminded himself, he had to get her away from her father and back in California. He would not let her father stand in his or stop him from having the woman he loved by his side where she belonged. She was the light of his life, his destiny. He was her strong prince of darkness sent from the flames of fate, and she was his delicate lotus flower sent from the angels. He knew they were complete opposites, but they were meant to join as one, and that was precisely what they would do. He wanted a life with her as his wife, lover, and dearest friend. He wanted her to be his children's mother and grow old with him.
