It's been four days since we returned home. When I came back the whole family was in the front yard waiting for us. I was instantly engulfed in hugs as I returned them stiffly.
I was close to tears at seeing all of them after spending 3 weeks in Japan.
I am walking with a tray of tea for the workers who are helping us to arrange the flowers and lights for the engagement party.
"Bhabi!" Riya calls out and I stop on my tracks.
"Yes?" I turn around in question.
"Which one's better, the pink one or gold?" She lifts two kurta sets with hangers.
"Go for the gold one. It'll make your eyes pop." I provide her with a smile.
Aman's eyes.
"Thanks!" She runs off to her room and a small smile plays as I remember my husband.
He has gone to office. After ditching work for nearly 3 weeks his workload has piled and he's been working since we returned.
I serve them all tea and help Ma in arranging the things for puja. My knees threaten to buckle as I run all day helping everyone. I didn't take a proper rest after returning from the trip. I am still tired.
I go into my room and plop into the bed sighing deeply. Can this day be anymore exhausting?
A knock to the door makes me scrape myself off from the bed towards the door. When I open it a maid hands me over a blue box which is tied in a big bow.
"What is this?" I examine the box up and down.
"This came from the master." She says and a thrill shoots down my stomach.
Okay...
"Thank you." I send her off and close the door. I keep the box on the bed and take off the lid and gasp.
You must be kidding me.
Inside the box is a saree in the colour of powder blue. There's a tag inside claiming it as Mehra Coutures. The box not only contains the saree but everything I'll need including a pair of stunning silver shoes in my size and a elegant deep blue box.
I open it with a click and there's a matching necklace and earrings to the saree.
This must have cost a fortune. I don't even want to hear the price or I might get a stroke.
There's a note inside the box.
