Vol 3 Chapter 2: An unexpected predicament

Yagami Light POV

I was now in my room contemplating this exam, it was obvious that the school picked the class leaders to be captains rather than it being decided by the class or done by a lottery.

Trying to relax, I went to my cabinet and grabbed a bag of potato chips.

For some reason, I can hear Sayu scolding me inside my head for eating some chips, saying that it'll downgrade my looks.

Speaking of Sayu, I believe she's coming to this school when I enter the 3rd year, and I can already predict what she could say like, "Hey Light I miss you so much!" or "Have you and Victorique got together yet?" something along those lines would definitely be something she will say.

As I opened the bag of chips, I started to talk to myself.

"Time to take this potato chip and eat it—" I then heard my doorbell ring.

And I was so close to eating that.....

I put my chips down on a table went to the door and opened it revealing..

"Hachina?"

"Yagami, I was wondering if you wanted to have a chat about the exam?" Hachina asked me.

"Uhm, sure." I said as I welcomed him in.

As he came in and sat down, I closed the door right behind me.

However, I saw something devastating, Hachina was eating my potato chips.....

What a sad time I live in when a man's potato chips can't even eat their own potato chips.

"So Hachina, what did you want to talk about around the exam?" I asked him.

"You know Yagami— actually I am gonna call you Light since we are considered friends right?" Hachina asked me.

"Well considering we are technically friends, I guess you can call me Light and I can call you Naoki then." I said to him.

Although I am still pretty saddened by my heart that you ate my chips though, I don't think I should focus too much on that.

"Right then Light, I would like to know your thoughts about this exam?" Naoki asked me.

My thoughts on the exam?

Well given the basis on the surface level, it is obviously testing our problem-solving skills in fields that we might and might not know.

Although knowing Naoki, he must already know this and wants me to figure out something else this exam tests us on.

If we take away the general basis of the exam, the only oddity there is to this is that the leaders for each team were all class leaders.

"The only thing I can think of is the possibility that there is another reason for this exam, and I think it's mainly about the leaders of each team. It is as if they are trying to have us evaluate each other decision-making skills." I said to him.

"You are exactly right Light, that is why my very 1st decision for our lineup will be adding you, Katsuragi, Victorique, Sakyanagi, Kamuro, Hashimoto, Kito, Tamiya, and Nishikawa." Naoki said to me.
