I grinned and unlocked the car, quite proud of myself. Travis got in and I handed him the keys as he put the takeaway bag between us, closing his door. He'd looked pretty amused by my security check.
"Well done Miss Swift." Travis said as he dug into the bag and handed me the takeaway bowl.
"Thank you." I tucked my legs up. "Good question?"
"Very good, since there's only three people who would have known the answer." Travis nodded as he took out whatever he'd ordered. "Always choose questions only the person you're asking would know, or as close as you can get."
I nodded. We didn't talk as we ate, but it wasn't uncomfortable silence. Travis didn't really talk if he didn't have to; I'd noticed that about him. He seemed like he kept everything as professional as possible, which I guess was the reason he didn't react when I got mad at him. That made sense.
Once we'd eaten, Travis got out to throw away the empty bowls and bag. I checked my phone as he walked back, clicking the keys to unlock the car since he'd insisted I lock it just for that moment he got out. There was a text from Joe asking where I was, telling me I'd been out too long and I needed to come home. I sighed, his text immediately putting a damper on my mood. Travis got in, and I saw him glance over at me.
"We should go home." I mumbled. "Joe wants me back."
"Okay." Travis said quietly. He didn't ask why, didn't say anything else, just started to drive. I ducked my head down slightly on the way home, suddenly feeling guilty for eating. I hoped Joe wouldn't notice.
When we got back to the apartment, I took off my shoes and rushed down to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth just in case to make sure Joe wouldn't be able to tell I'd eaten when he didn't want me to. He was watching TV in the living room when I came out and looked up at me when I came through into the room. I smiled tentatively and Joe beckoned me over.
"No." He murmured when I went to sit next to him. "Stay standing. Your dress for the premiere came in." I glanced over to see a dress bag draped over the table. "Get it, bring it here."
I nodded, going over to the table. Putting my phone down, I unzipped the bag to see the long black dress inside. It was plain black and looked tight with a low front and triangular cutouts on the sides of the waist. Swallowing, I picked up the dress and took it off the hanger, draping it over my arm as I walked back over to Joe. He motioned to the couch cushion next to him and I placed the dress down.
"Take your shirt off, and your jeans." Joe told me, and I blinked at him.
"Why?"
"Just do it Taylor, do you have to ask so many questions?" My boyfriend sighed. I swallowed, taking the hem of my shirt and easing it over my head. Glancing over, I made sure that the front curtain was closed and Travis wasn't around before unbuttoning my jeans and stepping out of them. I took my socks off too, standing in nothing but my bra and underwear. Joe looked at me, and I fiddled with my fingers, no clue what he was doing. "Turn to the side." He murmured.
Biting my lip, I turned so that he faced my side. I felt very self-conscious all of a sudden as Joe scrutinized me for a long moment, muting the TV as he studied my body. Goosebumps rose up on my arms as I waited, unsure what was going on.
"You've put on weight babe." Joe sighed a minute later.
"I'm sorry." I whispered.
"Too much for the dress." He murmured. "Go and get that shapewear I bought you."
"But that hurts." I mumbled.
"I don't care, go get it." Joe flicked his hand. Tears welling up in my eyes, I turned away and went down to our bedroom. Ducking down to the bottom drawer, I reached right to the bottom at the back and took out the shapewear. Taking it with me, I went back to where Joe waited. He motioned for me to put it on, which I did, my lip trembling as I felt it pressing against my stomach. It would start to hurt within fifteen minutes, and I'd spent the rest of the night in pain. "Okay, that's better." Joe nodded. "Take off your bra, put on the dress."
