Jackson's POV
Okay, I'm a human and if I go in there I'll die. Man, I really wish I had abilities right now. What to do what to do? They could be getting tortured in there.
I paced around and thought. What would they do?
" Who's there?" Someone asks shining a flashlight my way. I put my hand up to shield my eyes from the light.
" Who is that?" Asks the voice again. I heard footsteps and the crunching of leaves. I took a step back and let my hand fall. My eyes had adjusted to the light.
" I will shoot you if you don't answer my question."
" I....I'm Jackson. I don't know where I'm at. Can you help me?"
" Well, Jackson, are you a human?" The voice asked me.
" Y-yes." I stutter.
" Well, then why are you here?"
" I-uh, my, uh, I was told that Kendal Smith and his friends were being held here. I have orders to see them." I swallow and straighten my posture hoping he bought the lie.
" Oh, well, might I ask what business you have with them?" He asks gesturing for me to follow him. I obediently followed afraid that he would see right through my lie.
As he opens the gate and we enter I reply saying, " Let's just say they owe me a favor. I have some unfinished business with them." I smirked as I walked further away from the gate, but that smirk instantly faded when I saw the camp. It was horrifying.
A fire pit sat in the middle of the camp and several cabins were scattered around. Near the pit was a wooden post and a metal pole. Hanging o the wooden post were several whips and belts. Some long others with spikes in them. The metal pole had a rope tied around it that was wrapped around the pole several times.
" You know we could we some extra help around here. We could place you as a guard or a Punisher? After those kids you are asking about were released there have been some break outs lately. Especially with the hybrids." He says.
" What do you mean 'hybrids'?" I ask taken back by his words.
" Hyrbids, part human part Special. They're the worst. Their powers are the strongest so we keep them in an isolated area."
As I listened to him talk I let nub eyes wonder. I noticed a girl sitting on the ground in front of a cabin. She was covered in dirt and blood and was playing with a stick in the earth. She was chained to a wooden post. When she noticed me looking at her she smiled. I gave the same gesture and nodded to her.
" Who is that girl?" I ask pointing to the frail girl on the ground.
He turned to see who I was taking about. He scoffed and waved his hand. " Her. Her name is Rami. She's a hybrid. Her abilities haven't come in yet so we keep her out in the open to keep a close eye on her." He said as we came to a larger cabin. He opened the doors and we went in.
" Oh." Was all I managed to get out.
" Okay, your aliens are down that hallway, cell 298." He said walking out of the cabin. I stood in the same spot for at least five minutes. I was too afraid and dumbfounded to do anything. That girl in the ground.
She was just like me. A hybrid. They were beating her and she was still smiling.
I made my way down the hall and found cell 298. I passed hundreds of cells filled with Specials. A lot of them gave me angry and dirty looks. Some just looked at me and smiled and others didn't even acknowledge that I was there. I felt a lump in my throat as I passed them. They were being treated like animals and I'm a free walker. Why would I ever work here?
