Tilar's POV
I walked down to Lena's room and knocked on her door. She quickly answered it and I let myself in. I turned to face her as she shut the door.
" Well come one in."
" I wanted to talk to you." I was on the verge of crying again.
" What is it?" Lena asked me with a sympathetic look. I think she heard the crack in my voice. I was never good at hiding my emotions with Lena. She saw right through my disguise.
" I asked Mikell if he liked me and he said yes." I sat on her couch and twisted my hands in anticipation.
" That's great. You like him don't you?" Her eyes lit up and mine looked down.
" Yeah, I do. See he said we could only be friends. I think he knows I like him now."
" What makes you say that?" She asked putting her hand on my shoulder.
" Well you see when he said that I kind of got all happy and then he said we could only be friends. I got upset and I'm pretty sure he noticed it."
Her face sunk and I knew she was about to give me some advice or as I like to call her 'Therapist Lena'.
" Listen, Tilar," Here it was. " You need to give it time, okay. He'll want you eventually. I swear it."
" You think?"
" I know." She shook my shoulder lightly. "Tilar you are amazing and every guy is stupid if they don't see that. I promise you, one day Mikell is gonna wake up and see that you are great and he's gonna kick himself for not seeing it sooner." She smiled and gave me her you-know-I'm-right look.
"I love you, Lena." I smiled and gave her a hug. She always knew what to say.
" I love you back." She replied hugging me tighter.
" Well, I'm gonna go see if Mikell is out of the infirmary." I wiped my face and stood up. I hadn't realized I had been crying.
" I'll see you at breakfast." She nodded to me and I left.
I decided that I was going to be patient. He said he liked me, that's good. I guess. I just wished I could be more than just his friend.
I came to the lobby and stopped. I hadn't really had a chance to take in the scenery. The lobby was wide, with light blue walls and bay windows with light blue curtains. There were four hallways two led to a series of rooms, one led to the cafe, and the other led to the training and testing rooms. People with abilities go through tests and training to help manage their powers. As of now Lena and the rest of us can only do small things at one time, but with training and testing we'll be lifting cars with our minds and creating tornados through Las Vegas.
I made my way to the infirmary, which was the cafe's hallway. I walked inside and found Mikell putting on his shirt. I walked a few steps to get a closer look at his back.
He had scars covering his back. One was on his shoulder blade and it was an X shape. I wondered how he got it. The others were just scattered around on his back. Some were lines others were circles, almost like he was branded.I shifted on my foot and he heard it. He jerked around and jumped.
" Damn it, Tilar. You scared me." He quickly pulled on his shirt and turned back around to fix the bed.
" I just wanted come and make sure you were okay. What, uh, happened to your back?" I questioned taking another step to him.
" What are you really doing here Tilar?" He asked and turned back around. We bumped into each other and I took a shaky step back embarrassed. He sighed and walked past me.
