Lena POV
"Mikell!" Tilar shouted kneeling next to him. Mikell starred in shock and put his hand over his wound. I panicked for a few seconds and then snapped back into reality."Give me your jacket Tilar." I ordered helping her pull it off.
" Are your parents home?" I asked him.
" No." He winced." They went to some meeting downtown."
" Can we call an ambulance?" Tilar asked me panicking herself.
" You know as well as I do that no authority what-so-ever is going to help us. Especially if it means saving a Special's life." I told her.
" Well, what can we do then?" She asked me jerking her arm out of the jacket.
I thought for a minute. We couldn't take him to the hospital and his parents weren't home. What could we do. It wasn't a major wound or anything, but he could still bleed out. What I did could reflect on his life.
" Okay, Mikell, I need you to listen to me okay." He nodded his head. " I'm going to go in your house and get what I need. I'm gonna help you." I said slowly. He nodded his head again and I stood up.
I walked inside his house and ran for his bathroom. I rummaged through his cabinets and drawers . I finally found bandages and alchol spray. I stuck them in my cargo pants pocket. I needed tweezers. He had to have some around here. I ran to his kitchen and then to his parents room. I found none. Who didn't have tweezers handy? This was 2031.
I gave up and went back outside only to see Tilar and Mikell gagged. Their eyes widened when they saw me and shook their head trying to tell me something, but as usual I didn't listen. I ran to Tilar and tried to untie her hands, but before I got one foot out of the door a cloth was over my mouth and everything went black.
I woke up to being thrown against a steel wall. I wasn't thrown, more like slid. I was in a moving ,dark, metal box.
An eighteen wheeler. These things aren't used as often as they used to. Ever since drones and hover board mail took over you hardly saw any kind of truck for that matter.
I sat up and rubbed my head. A knot was forming where I hit it.
"Tilar?" I called out. I heard a mumble and someone moving around. I felt around for something to help me see, but sadly I found nothing.
" Tilar I can't see. Where are you?" I asked blindly. She hit the side of the truck and I followed the noise.
I found her and hugged her making sure she was okay. I took the gag out of her mouth and untied her hands.
" Are you okay?" I asked her wrapping my arms around her neck in a hug again.
" Yeah, I'm okay. Where's Mikell?"
" I don't know. I can't see anything." I told her.
" Here. Use my phone light." She pulled her phone out and handed it to me. I tapped the screen and it lit up. I shined it around the truck and found Mikell in the far corner propped up against the wall. He shielded his eyes from the light and dropped his hand. Danielle and Tonya were here to. They were out cold.
" Do you still have the first aid supplies?" Tilar asked me taking the phone out of my hand.
" Yeah, it's in my pocket. Go check on them." I felt in my pockets and pulled out the bandages and spray. I carefully stood up and walked to Mikell.
He still had the jacket with him. I threw it to the side and pulled his shirt back. He was bleeding badly. I didn't know how I was gonna do this. If Danielle were awake he could heal Mikell, but that wasn't an option right now. I had to do this myself and I was panicking.
" They're breathing." She crawled back over to me and shined the light on Mikell taking out his gag and untied his hands.
" How are you gonna do this?" She asked me chewing on her lip.
" I'll figure it out." I thought for a moment. I had to get the bullet out somehow and I wasn't going to use my hands. I could use my mind.
" Lena," Mikell grabbed my hand. " You know what you're doing?" He asked.
Just when I was about to reply the truck came to a hault and I fell on my back.
I was three seconds away from cursing out the world. "Tilar. Come help me. I need to hurry before they see us." I told her. She shines the light on his wound. I focus all of my attention on it and pictured myself actually pulling the bullet out.
For me to control something I have to imagine myself physically doing it or nothing will happen.
Mikell's muscle tensed and he winced. It was actually working. I was actually doing this. My hands shook and so did Mikell's. This had to hurt. I didn't want to hurt him.
" I can't do this. I don't want to hurt him." I said exasperating. I didn't realize I was holding my breath.
" Just get the thing out already, Lena." Tilar shouted at me.
" This is harder than it looks." I shouted back.
" You can do it." Mikell told me closing his eyes.
I sighed and closed my eyes. I focused my attention on his wound and tried again. I didn't want to hurt him worse than he already was. If I shift a muscle once or even break my concentration the bullet could tear through an intestine.
Mikell cried out and I tried to ignore him. My eyes teared up, but seconds later the bullet levitated in the air. Tilar and I sighed in relief.
" You did it, Lena." Tilar squealed.
I took a breath. I did didn't I? I actually did it. " I'm not done yet." I told them and pulled out the spray. Just as I did the truck door opened and bright light swept in. Two silloutes stood in front of us.
" Don't give us any trouble, okay. We aren't going to hurt you." Said the first man.
" That's what they all say." I said to them. I inched closer to my friends and even closer to Mikell. I couldn't let them near him. Who knows what they would do.
" We aren't here to hurt you. I promise."
I debated on whether or not to trust them. I mean they did just kidnap us, but Mikell was hurt and he needed help. Maybe they would give him that.
" Can you help him ?" Tilar asked them beating me to the question.
" Yes we can, but we can't if you won't let us."
" Okay." Tilar and I stood up and helped Mikell to his feet. He painfully stood up and walked in sync with us. The two guys helped him down and he stumbled before gaining his footing. I hopped down and then Tilar did. Danielle and Tonya came last. The second guy carried them inside the old building.
We stood in front of a large warehouse. It looked as if it had been built decades ago. It probably was. The paint was chipped and the roof was caved in. Who would live in something like this?
" You're probably wondering why we brought you here. I am not allowed to tell you that. So be patient and you'll know everything in time."
I finally was able to get a good look at the man. He was dark skinned and his hair was shaved. He was tall and bulky. He reminded me of a brick wall.
" Some place." I said studying the warehouse.
" That's the point. No one will ever discover this place and we won't ever be found out."
" Yeah, find out that you're flesh peddlers." I spat.
" Like I said, you'll find out in time what you're doing here."
" I bet."
