October, 1922

With her toddler bouncing on her lap, Alice sits beside her husband and children at Jardin City Park. They had been promised a quieter and more peaceful setting than the bustling train station they had just left. Charles, who had recommended the park to them, stands nearby with his arms crossed, observing the scene with a watchful eye.

Alice feels something special about this place, this city. She's only ever been here in passing, but she can't help but feel like it is a part of her history. Maybe her mother and father traveled here, maybe not, but she's grateful to be here.

The leaves around them are tinted with the hues of autumn, creating a mosaic of reds, oranges, and golds. Alice brushes a lock of hair away from her toddler's face, her heart swelling with love and contentment. She takes a moment to breathe in the crisp air tinged with the faint scent of distant woodsmoke, a staple of the season. It's a scent that carries memories of warm fires and cozy evenings, a comforting reminder of the simple life she chose.

As her toddler giggles at the leaves rustling overhead, Alice glances at her husband. His hand is warmly clutched around her free hand, an affectionate gesture that never fails to make her heart flutter. He catches her eye, his own twinkling with mirth and affection as he leans in to plant a soft kiss on her forehead.

The warmth of the kiss lingers on her skin, stirring memories of their early days. Those were times filled with innocent laughter, stolen kisses, and quiet words whispered into the night. Now, their time occupied by other things, isn't short of joy regardless.

The park is a beautiful place. There are a few scattered families having their last picnics and in the far corner is a small ice cream vendor. Jimmy, nearly as tall as her eldest, tugs at her sleeve. "Mama, can we have some ice cream?" He pleads, his brown eyes wide with anticipation. "It won't be long before it gets too cold to sell it!"

Alice nods and smiles at him, her heart swelling at her son's eagerness. With a gentle glance in her husband's direction, he reaches into his suit pocket and pulls out his wallet, pulling out a dollar bill. "Get enough for your siblings, son. The twins can share one."

Jimmy beams, taking the money eagerly. "Thanks, Dad!" And without wasting any time, he runs in the direction of the vendor.

The distraction of her son's excitement only lasts so long, for after a short while of looking out at her surroundings, she's reminded of why they wait.

Alice's impatience is evident in her eyes, though she tries to hide it. Jack, always attentive and caring, rests a gentle hand on her back as he leans in to give her a reassuring smile. But even with his support, Alice can't help but feel anxious, a tiny quiver in her smile betraying her nerves.

"She'll be here," Jack says softly, trying to calm her worries.

"But what if she changed her mind?" Alice frets.

"She didn't," Charles interjects, his voice quietly excited. "Look."

He gestures towards a figure standing only a few feet away from them. The Marston family turns their attention to the woman approaching them. Randy stops playing with his little brother on the grass. Alice quits bouncing the baby on her knee. None dare to move.

The woman, taking a few steps closer, is dressed differently from the city folk and finely-dressed families around them. Her tanned skin is speckled with freckles and her hair shines like strands of golden wheat when she removes her hat. Her eyes, now softened with age, widen in disbelief as she gazes upon the group in front of her.

Jimmy, now returning with three cones balancing in his hands, nearly rams into Charles. "I got 'em, Daddy! I got—" and his cheers are cut short once he sees what the rest of his family is looking at. "Oh...!" He gasps.

"Well, I'll be damned..." she drawls out in a raspy voice. "Jack Marston."

Jack's smile widens as he recognizes her instantly. "Hello, Sadie." Turning to his wife and children, he introduces them proudly. "I'd like you to meet my family..."

That's it: The End.

I want to thank you for reading my story, and I want to thank redfoxx29 for sticking around and giving feedback on this story. I am grateful that others have a shared interest in Eliza and Isaac, and I hope that I did them justice by giving them a voice in Rockstar's world. Arthur deserved to have that piece of him under the limelight for a little while, and I am glad that I could give him a legacy that lived on in his daughter. Even though she isn't canon, I tried very hard to make it so that it could be a possibility. It still sticks to the bittersweetness, while still giving me the happy ending I wanted. So, I will be now working on the next story, and welcome any plot ideas or prompts. Find me on my tumblr, or comment here. I will always credit prompts as they are offered to me.

I am moving over to AO3, so if you feel like going over there to see my new works, it would be nice to see you. :)

Anyway, that was long-winded, so I should end it here, like Charles did.

See ya around, partner. <3
