LUNCH

OLIVIA POV

So many thoughts are running through my mind right now. I want to just get up and leave but my mind and gut are telling me to stay, and I can't not listen. We deserve to hear each other out even if it's painful.

I fix my necklace as I walk into the restaurant. I scheduled these reservations right when I made it home last night, so hopefully I'm on the list. Nothing too fancy, but casual. Since I was headed to the office directly after this, I had to wear a dress.

"Right this way ma'am." The hostess says as she leads me to the booth, and to my surprise,  Spencer is already there.

"Olivia Baker, it's not like you to be late to things." He tells me as I can't help but laugh.

"Stop it, I'm right on time, last time I remember, I was always waiting for you," I tell him as I slide into the booth

I miss this. The dates, talks, smiles, jokes. Times where we could let loose. We stare at each other for a good minute until the waiter comes and takes our drink orders. He still brings me butterflies after all of these years, and I know I do the same to him.

"So how you been? It's been 4 years." He asks as I nod.

"4 years too long. I've been good. Living life, fulfilling my career. You?" I ask as the waiter brings our drinks.

"Good. I recently became the Cowboys Player of the Year. MVP and the NFL is going great. Dillion just started his junior year!" He tells me excitedly.

"JUNIOR YEAR

"JUNIOR YEAR...WHAT! I'm gonna have to stop by and see him. I heard congrats on Player of the Year. That's huge. I watch you play, you're quite the superstar, Mr. James." I tell him as he blushes.

We continue small talk and catching up until the waiter comes and takes our orders. It was good catching up considering we've been absent from each other's lives for so long. Once the food came, the uncomfortable but needed talk started.
