England 1492 (Angelina)

I wake up to find that my anger from last night has not cooled. I am already up when Lilian knocks on the door. I rush to open it.

"Angelina, you are already up." She smiles at me, "shall I give you a few minutes or..."

"No please, come in. I have some questions to ask you." She walks inside and I usher her towards my bed. I sit on my dressing table chair, facing her.

"What.. is it than you are so eager to know?" She looks at me, confused.

"Lord Niklaus. Tell me all about him. Everything you've heard. Surely the maids hear all kinds of things in here. Tell me everything. I promise I will not speak a word of it to another soul."

"Oh.. Angelina... I.."

"Please. I'm desperate. I promise I will not tell."

"Ok," she sighs. "Well here is what I have heard, though not all of it may be true." I nod her on. "He is a dangerous man. The village whispers about him. The servants do too. He is known for his brutality amongst some." My heart sinks. "But.. there are many that find him very charming and good. I hear lots of ladies of the court praise him very highly for his kindness. It is hard to know what to believe.

"Ok... and in terms of... ladies. Do you know if he really intends to marry? Does he spend his time in the company of a lot of ladies?"

"I am not entirely sure of what he does to be honest. There are certainly rumors. For many ladies in the court, he is all they talk about. I am not sure if it is just talk or not."

"Thankyou Lilian, I am so very grateful. I am in your debt."

"Oh, not at all Angelina," she gives me a reassuring smile. "And just so you know, you are expected down to breakfast again today. It shall commence in 45 minutes."

"You can tell the lord Niklaus that I shall not be attending today. I will have breakfast in my room if that is alright with you."

"But.. Angelina... I am not sure that is a great idea. Lord Niklaus does not like to be denied. That will send a message."

"That is exactly what I am counting on Lilian. Actually, I have a better idea. I will write a note and have someone bring it to him, so as you will not get into trouble."

"I-"

"Lilian. Please."

"I shall fetch you some ink and parchment. I won't be a minute."

"Thankyou," I smile at her. I start to pace the room. I have a nervous feeling in my stomach. I hope this goes how I intend it to. I hope this gets the message across that I will not be messed with like he clearly messes with everyone else.

I look up as Lilian comes back in with ink, parchment and a quill. She sets it down on the dresser for me. I take a seat and dip the quill in some ink. I start writing.

Lord Niklaus,
I am writing to tell you that I shall not be joining you for breakfast this morning. Do not come looking for me, I am fine,
Angelina.

"There." I fold it up and hand it to her.

"I shall take it to him right now. Then I shall fetch your breakfast and draw you a bath."

"Thankyou Lilian, take your time."

I decide to pick out my clothes for the day while I wait for her to come back. I brought lots of dresses with me from Bulgaria and I bought a few here in England. I am very particular about my clothes. I enjoy looking nice and wearing nice things. A long time ago, all I dreamed about was being one of the best seamstresses in the world. I've been making my own clothes ever since I can remember. I even started selling clothes when I was around 15. That is why I wish to travel to London. There will be so many opportunities for me there.
