We're sitting in a very upper class clothes shop in the city. Rebekah was itching to get out and get some modern clothes to wear, seeing as she has nothing. She was fascinated and concerned at the same time when she saw the outfit I let her borrow last night for the time being. She asked me if it was something women actually wear now days, or if I was lending her pyjamas. I suppose she's not used to the much less modest clothing of now days.
In the short time since Rebekah and I met, we seem to have formed a connection already. I've decided that I like her. She's funny, clever and easy to talk to. She's interesting. I tried my best to fill her in on the modern world we're living in now days.
So now, here we are, sitting in a clothes shop waiting for her to try on yet another dress. Klaus and Stefan are sitting in two chairs facing the changing rooms and I'm browsing around the shop, looking at the expensive items of clothing.
Unintentionally, my eyes keep drifting back to where the men are sitting, drinking champagne. Klaus is smirking up at the shop assistant who is refilling his glass. His eyes linger on her as she turns and walks away and I can't stop the frown from creeping onto my face.
He looks so good today. Not that he doesn't look good every day, but today, I can't seem to take my eyes off him. I can see the outline of his chest and abs through the navy henley that he's wearing today. He's left buttons open on the top, leaving some of his necklaces on show.
"There has to be more to this dress," Rebekah walks out of the changing room and I snap my eyes away from her brother. Rebekah's wearing a black dress that reaches mid-thigh.
"There's not," Klaus replies in a lazy tone.
"So women in the 21st century dress like prostitutes then?" Rebekah asks. Klaus shrugs with a grin on his face. "You know, I got dirty looks for wearing trousers."
"You wore trousers so women today could wear nothing," Klaus answers her.
"And what is this music? It sounds like a cable car accident," she continues. Klaus rolls his eyes.
"It's dance music," Stefan tells her.
"People dance to this?" she asks raising a brow.
"Are we done?" Klaus asks.
"And why are you so grumpy?"
"I needed one thing from you for my witch to find out why my hybrids were dying, one thing. Your necklace. And you lost it."
"I didn't lose it. It's just been missing for 90 years. So what do you think?" she twirls for Stefan in the black dress.
"I like it," Stefan answers very unconvincingly and Rebekah makes a face. "What? I said I like it."
"I can always tell when you're lying Stefan," she says storming back into the changing room. Stefan looks to Klaus in disbelief.
"Nice one, good work."
"You're the one that pulled the dagger out of her," Stefan replies, almost as if they're friends again.
"I heard that," Rebekah quips from inside the changing room.
"All right. I'm gonna get some fresh air," Stefan stands up and walks out of the shop.
"Are you going to sit down love, or are you going to continue gazing at me from afar?" Klaus asks my without even looking at me. I feel my cheeks heat as I realize what I had again been doing.
"I am not gazing at you from afar," I snap as I walk over to him, grabbing his glass of champagne off him and taking a sip.
"Of course," he winks at me.
