From Ashes To Embers(Klaus Mikaelson)

Chapter 31

   There's high schoolers everywhere. I don't care that I'm standing out a little, being clearly not a high schooler and not wearing a 60's outfit. I'm here for solely one purpose, finding Klaus.

   I spot Elena, Stefan, Bonnie, Jeremy and Damon so I start to make my way over as the music stops and a student starts speaking into a microphone. "Thanks for being here everybody. We have a special shout-out tonight. This is for Elena. From Klaus."

   My eyes widen and I rush over to them immediately. Damon scowls when he sees me, but thankfully the others don't seem too unhappy to see me. "That was a lame, cheap shot. He's just trying to bait us."

   "I know everyone here. Do you see him Angela?" Elena asks me.

   "No," I shake my head. I'm a little relieved I don't see him.

   "Maybe he's not here. He just wants us to believe that he is," Stefan points out.

   "It's a party people, blend. Let him come to us," Damon says.

   "Good idea," Bonnie agrees.

   "No, no. I really don't feel like dancing," Jeremy whines as Bonnie pulls him away.

   "Too bad."

   "There's Ric. I'll be back," Damon starts walking over to Alaric and I follow him. I still have my suspicions about Alaric.

   "Special dedication huh? This guy's a little twisted," Alaric smiles at me.

   "I'm not impressed," Damon answers him. I watch Ric closely.

   "No?" Ric almost looks offended.

   "Let me know if you see anything out of whack," Damon walks back into the crowd. I decide to stay with Ric a little longer to try and figure him out.

   "So, what about you? What did you think of that special dedication?"

   "I think it was a silly, immature, cheap shot." Ok, Ric definitely looks offended now.

   "Yeah?"

   "Hmm."

   "You aren't very uh.. dressed for the occasion."

   "I don't care about dressing up for some silly little dance. I'm only here to help them."

   "Why? Because you're the only one who knows what he looks like?" I nod in confirmation. Ric continues, "and do you... how would you feel about him if he were to show up? I mean as far as I know, you two used to be together."

   I frown at him. Ok, this is definitely weird. "Why are you asking?"

   "Oh, I uh.. you know, never mind. Oh I think someone is calling me over there. Better go and do my chaperoning duties." I watch him as he walks away from me. I initially thought he was compelled, but.. I don't know, it doesn't really seem like he is. Still, something is off about him.

   I watch the crowd as a more upbeat tune comes on. Damon is in the middle dancing like a maniac. I roll my eyes, what an idiot. He stops his dancing as Elena walks over and says something to Bonnie. Stefan then walks over to Damon, angry.

   I listen in, "Come here. Please tell me you didn't know that Bonnie was on a suicide mission." 

   "Oh great. Jeremy told you and of course, you told Elena."

   "Yeah, I told her. You promised her no more secrets."

   "I changed my mind." Oh no, this is bad. Bonnie can't take on Klaus without dying. None of them know what he looks like so they're at a disadvantage. I need to find Klaus first and try to slow him down.
