As the call with Alya ended, I felt a surge of determination. Without a moment's hesitation, I turned to my staff and said, "We're heading back to New York."

My assistant looked at me, puzzled. "But sir, we just landed in Chicago. The meeting with the investors is in an hour."

"Cancel it," I replied, my tone leaving no room for argument. "Alya missed her flight. I need to be back in New York to get her."

"Sir, there are protocols. We need landing permissions and all the necessary clearances," my staff insisted, trying to reason with me as we headed back through the terminal.

"Tell them Alex Hall is landing," I said firmly, knowing full well the weight my name carried in aviation circles. In New York, my reputation and influence meant that such requests were never denied.

The staff exchanged uncertain glances but quickly moved to make the necessary arrangements. "Yes, sir. We'll expedite the process," one of them finally said, picking up a phone to start the urgent communications.

I walked briskly back towards the terminal, my mind racing. The past week had been a whirlwind of emotions and revelations. Spending time with Alya was great. I had learned about her favourite foods, her quirky love for horror movies, and her favourite colour and so many.

As I boarded the private jet, my thoughts lingered on Alya. She was probably at the airport, feeling stressed and frustrated about missing the flight. The thought of her being alone and disappointed spurred me on. This was more than just about getting her to Chicago; it was about showing her that she could rely on me.

Once seated, I buckled in and stared out the window as the jet taxied for takeoff. The flight back to New York felt agonisingly slow, even in the swift luxury of my private jet. I found myself impatiently tapping my fingers against the armrest, my mind replaying our recent conversations. And how she must be waiting now.

When we finally touched down in New York, I wasted no time in finding Alya.

An hour later, just as promised, I arrived at the New York airport. My eyes scanned the bustling terminal until they landed on Alya, who was seated quietly in a corner, looking both exhausted and a bit lost. I quickly walked towards her, feeling a mix of relief and excitement.

"Ready to go?" I asked, flashing a warm smile as I approached her.

Alya looked up, surprise flickering across her face. "You came early," she said, her voice a mix of gratitude and disbelief.

"Of course, I did," I replied, reaching down to take her bags. "Let's get you out of here."

As we started walking towards the private jet terminal, Alya's curiosity got the better of her. "I thought your flight was at 7 only. What happened?" she asked, glancing at me with a puzzled expression.

"I had a meeting scheduled, so I delayed my flight," I explained, trying to downplay the lengths I had gone to be here.

We walked in comfortable silence for a moment, and then Alya's gaze shifted to the sleek private jet waiting for us on the tarmac. Her jaw dropped slightly as the reality of our transportation sank in.

"Are we traveling in this?" she asked, her eyes wide with astonishment.

"Yes," I confirmed with a nod, enjoying her reaction.

"This is so worth missing the flight," she murmured, her voice filled with awe. "I've never been on a private jet before."

I chuckled at her excitement. "Well, you're in for a treat. Let's get you inside. It's cold out here, and I don't want you catching a fever," I said, gently guiding her towards the jet's entrance.
