Chapter 33: Enter The Demoness Urasae & The Priestess Kikyo

Emi's pov

As we got closer and closer to the spot that Kikyo's ashes had been taken, I was hit with an overwhelming amount of dread. I didn't understand what it was but something about this whole thing unsettled me greatly, stealing someone's ashes is awful. I looked over at Inuyasha, wondering what was going through his head at the moment. "What are you staring at me like that for?" Inuyasha snapped, "It's nothing..." I shook my head, looking away from him. "It's not nothing. It's something. Why did you look at me like that?" He asked, "I said it's nothing, Inuyasha. Just drop it." I snapped, "No, I'm not gonna drop it. First Kagome gave me a look and now you. What is it?!" He argued, "Guys..." Kagome started, "Okay, fine. You wanna know why I was looking at you?!" I snapped, throwing my arms up. "Emi, wait.." Kagome started, "I don't think this will end well." Shippo said, "I-" Before I could get a word out, Kagome slapped a hand over my mouth and looked back at Inuyasha. I looked at her in shock as I was not expecting Kagome to do that, but it was much better than her saying the D word. "Stop egging her on before she says something that might really be hurtful. Just drop it, Inuyasha." Kagome said, she had a stern look on her face. "Fine." Inuyasha grumbled, he huffed and crossed his arms while Kagome turned to look back at me. "Please stop fighting with Inuyasha. We have more serious problems to worry about then your petty arguments. For my sake, please stop." Kagome made eye contact for a brief moment, "If I remove my hand, will you promise not to argue with Inuyasha?" I nodded and crossed my heart, with that Kagome removed her hand and sighed.

"Good."

"Wow, Kagome. You handled that much better than the previous times they argued." Shippo said.

"I guess I've gotten a little better at putting a stop to their arguments before they say things they regret." Kagome let out a nervous laugh, while I just crossed my arms. As we traveled slowly in a forest, we noticed a lot of clay containers are strewn around the forest floor. Whatever that demoness was doing, she definitely was trying something with clay. Was it possible she was trying to make some kind of body? "What's this?" Kagome looked around, "Earthen dolls? How creepy!" Shippo exclaimed, he was absolutely right. This is creepy. We eventually come across a long and narrow bridge that connected the forest and the base of the demoness's mountain hideout. Below the bridge was a very deep valley and it scared the shit out of me how high we were from the ground. We hopped off the bike, standing just before the bridge. "Well, there it is." Inuyasha said, "Huh?! We have to cross this?!" Kagome asked, "Yeah, but we'll be fine right?" I asked nervously, "Oh come on, don't tell me you're afraid of heights?" Inuyasha teased, "So what if I am? It's a valid fear." Inuyasha scoffed at my answer, "We'll be fine. Now start walking." Inuyasha said, Kagome walked in front and grabbed the bridge nervously. I was directly behind her while Inuyasha was is in front of us, Kaede trailed behind. I did my best to keep calm as we crossed, if I freaked out it probably would make things worse for Kagome seeing as she was already scared enough.

"I'm so scared!!!" Kagome said.

"You don't have to come. I'll go in and talk some sense into her." Inuyasha said, turning to look at her.

"Don't be silly! I refuse to be left behind on a bridge like this?!" Kagome said, "So come..." Inuyasha turned back around and walked ahead, "Wait!"

Shippo runs ahead of Inuyasha but comes to a complete stop when a group of earthen dolls appear on the bridge, in front of us.

"There're more of the earthen dolls." Shippo called, I immediately put my guard up and focused. The earthen dolls cracks to reveal warriors in them, they tumble towards us slowly.

"What's that?!" Shippo panicked, "Soldiers of the old demoness!" Inuyasha said, I moved around Kagome to stand in front of her as Inuyasha kept his eyes forward. "Those are the dolls we saw... It can't be...?!" Kagome stopped speaking when she noticed something, I followed her line of vision to see more warriors approaching from behind. "Inuyasha! Behind you!"

"Kagome, Old Kaede... It's gonna shake a bit." Inuyasha shouted, he sprinted forward and attacks the warriors in front. "Iron Reaver Soul Stealer!" The warriors breaks, making sound of breaking pottery. I was expecting to see something inside but they were hollow inside.

"Are these guys really made of mud?!"

"Foxfire!" Shippo attacks the warriors in the back with foxfire, which only chars them a little. Kaede knocks them with her bow, breaking them. Inuyasha attacks more dolls, "They're not that strong! Just that there're so many of 'em!" I moved forward as a soldier got past Shippo and Inuyasha, "Not today!" I kicked the soldier causing him to stumble back and tumble over the ropes, falling off the bridge. I was surprised that I was moving freely on the bridge, despite having a major fear of heights. I was more focused on keeping Kagome safe and hopefully crossing this bridge, just as Inuyasha broke more soldiers, I caught onto a weird scent. I kicked several more soldiers off the bridge, when I got the feeling we were being watched. Something told me to stay close to Kagome and just as I made my way over to her, the demoness flies downwards and slashes the bridge into two with her scythe. I panicked as Inuyasha grabbed my arm, holding onto the bridge with Shippo hanging on for dear life.

"Inuyasha! Emi!" I looked down as Kagome fell, "Kagome!!" The demoness swoops down and grabbed Kagome, flying away with her. "No!! Kagome!!! Give her back!!" I screamed, Shippo and Kaede continued to fall making me panic as tears came to my eyes. In the distance, I could hear Kagome screaming for us.

"KAGOME!!"
