Chapter 48: A Default Win

Emi's pov

I stayed beside Miroku, hoping that the medicine that Kagome gave him would work. I turned my attention back onto Sesshomaru and Inuyasha's fight, I hoped that Inuyasha would be able to get the upper hand on his brother soon. There's no telling how much longer that human arm of Sesshomaru's will last, Tetsusaiga was already showing signs that it would reject him soon enough. "I've figured it out, Sesshomaru. Why a demon like you is able to wield the Tetsusaiga. That left arm is a human arm! You are using the Sacred Jewel to connect the arm to yours. If I lop off that arm, you won't be able even to touch the Tetsusaiga!" Inuyasha stated, flexing his claws. "On top of that," Inuyasha sprinted towards Sesshomaru, "I'll be able to get another Sacred Jewel fragment! Two birds with one stone!" I rolled my eyes and shook my head, Inuyasha was being cocky, though it didn't hurt that he had confidence. Sesshomaru zooms towards Inuyasha, "If you think you can touch my left arm, try!" He demanded, Inuyasha attacked Sessshomaru and missed. I winced as I watched Sesshomaru cut Inuyasha on his shoulder with his poison claw, Sehsshomaru leaped in the air and lashed his poison whip at his brother. Inuyasha dodges it with some difficulty, he then somersaults to Sesshomaru's back. When Sesshomaru turned around, Inuyasha dashed towards his older brother with raised claws. "Iron-Reaver, Soul-Stealer!" Sesshomaru dodged the attack easily and punched Inuyasha in the face. The impact throws Inuyasha backward and causes him to slide across the ground, I winced at the same time Inuyasha did. An arrow suddenly appears and shatters Sesshomaru's armor. I decided to stay back with Miroku, opting to look after him while Kagome helped Inuyasha against his older brother. I felt slightly proud that Kagome managed to shatter Sesshomaru's armor with her arrow, but I also worried about Sesshomaru coming for her. "Amazing, Kagome! You smashed his armor!" Shippo exclaimed, I had a feeling that Sesshomaru was starting to get annoyed with Kagome interfering with his fight. To be honest, Kagome was brave for what she was doing but at the same time, I felt that she shouldn't be getting involved in their fight.

"I was aiming for his left arm."

"Kagome..." Inuyasha stood to his feet.

"Inuyasha... Make her stop. Even as a half-breed, the blood of a demon flows through your veins. Don't stoop to accepting human aid when you're on the verge of death." Sesshomaru's words made me angry but I could tell he was becoming fed up, it was a miracle that he hadn't killed Kagome despite his hatred of humans. "Don't try anything, Kagome! Sesshomaru is ruthless!" Inuyasha warned her, "Kagome, listen to Inuyasha! Stop firing those arrows before Sesshomaru kills you!" I yelled, but of course, Kagome didn't listen and drew another arrow. "Don't worry! This time I'll hit my target!" She fired the arrow, making me sigh. The arrow flies towards Sesshomaru who doesn't flinch, he raises his hand and catches the arrow between his fingers. A green gas emits from his hand and disintegrates the arrow, that's when I realized that Kagome was only making things worse.

"The arrow...melted!"

"Do you not understand... " Tetsusaiga starts glowing yellow and Sesshomaru seemed very pissed off. "how to stop?!" He shouted at Kagome. Sesshomaru swings Tetsusaiga which sends waves in Kagome's direction. Inuyasha makes a mad dash toward Kagome, "Kagome get out of there!!!" I shouted, but she just stood there looking dumbfounded. I let out a frustrated groan as Shippo took off, "Run, Kagome!" Shippo yelled, I looked back at Miroku who was grimacing in pain. I couldn't just leave Miroku by himself while he was recovering, Jaken could try something while he was out of commission and I didn't want to take a chance. When I looked back, I sighed in relief as Inuyasha grabbed Kagome but my relief didn't last long as the wave hit them. They were thrown into the air and landed with a heavy thud on the ground, no doubt both of them were injured. "No! Kagome!! Inuyasha!!" I couldn't stand this anymore and took off running, hoping to get to them in time. Shippo runs to the two of them, "Kagome! Inuyasha!" When I reached them, I panicked when I saw that she was unconscious. Inuyasha winced in pain and looked at her, concern in his eyes. "Kagome...!" Inuyasha called again, he gently held her face and she whimpered. But she doesn't wake up, making me even more worried. I heard movement and looked up at Sesshomaru, glaring harshly at him as he pointed Tetsusaiga at us. I let out a growl, frustrated with Sesshomaru's actions and even more angry with Kagome for being stupid and not listening to Inuyasha when he told her to stop.
