Emi's pov

Kagome and I had traveled to the Feudal Era, we needed to figure out how to handle this. Especially because it involved the Soul Piper, it's possible that Kaede, Inuyasha, or Myoga could give us insight into the Soul Piper. Shippo sat between Kagome and me as we sat on the Dry Well. Inuyasha sat in front of us, leaning on a log with his arms folded. "So that demon is called the Soul Piper?" Kagome asked, "Uh-huh... So you have it in your world, too? It's supposed to console the souls of the dead children. It plays its flute until the souls find peace." Myoga explained, he was sitting on Kagome's finger. "And if the soul can't find peace? If the soul has regrets or harbors a grudge..." Kagome trailed off, "Then that spirit becomes an evil spirit." Myoga answered, "That's why Mayu's soul turned evil... She's harboring anger against her mother.." I said, "Evil spirit?" Kagome looked at Myoga in shock, "When regrets turn to rage and hatred in a spirit, it becomes evil. Upon becoming an evil spirit, the Soul Piper hurls it into the depths of hell." Myoga said, "Damnit... She's so young." I shook my head, running my fingers through my hair. "When the Soul Piper's eyes are fully open, it's too late." Shippo said, making me put my head in my hands. I closed my eyes as I remembered seeing the Soul Piper's eyes wide open when Mayu said she was going to kill her family. "I won't allow that! Mayu must find peace!" Kagome all but shouted, something told me that she was going back home soon. "Forget it, Kagome! Ghosts are different from demons. You can't just slay them. One misstep and you'll regret it." Inuyasha stated, "But I can't ignore it!" Kagome stood up, "Emi and I come from a shrine family! There must be something we can do!" Kagome yelled, "Emi, are you coming?" She looked at me and I shook my head, I knew that she could handle herself and she could keep her temper in check. Kagome has always been one to keep her temper in check unless Inuyasha got under her skin, she is better suited to helping a child find peace than I. Without another word, she jumped into the well. Leaving me here with Shippo and Inuyasha, who had no clue that she had left.

"Keh! Well, count me out of this one! There's nothing in it for me..." Inuyasha turned around to look at Kagome and stopped speaking when he saw she wasn't there anymore.

"Kagome is already gone," Shippo said, giving Inuyasha a look. "Fool!" I giggled at Shippo's comment, Inuyasha growled at him and launched himself at Shippo. Shippo, however, dodged him as Inuyasha fell onto the well. Shippo landed on his head and hit him, making Inuyasha mad. He went to grab Shippo, "Ah!! Emi help!" Shippo jumped into my arms, pleading for help. I hated when Inuyasha picked on Shippo, even though Shippo can be a smartass, he's still a child. Inuyasha growled and turned around, facing me. He launched himself at Shippo and I, making me even more annoyed.

"SIT BOY!!"

The necklace glowed and Inuyasha hit the ground with a thud, groaning in pain loudly. "Thanks, Emi." Shippo looked up at me, "No problem, Shippo. Inuyasha's just an idiot." I said, smiling at him.

"What was that for?!!" Inuyasha snapped, looking up at me.

"For trying to bully Shippo, that's why."

"I was not trying to bully him, he's the one who called me names first. I just wanted a little payback." Inuyasha tried to stand up, "You're an idiot if you easily believe the words that come out of that little smart-aleck's mouth."

"Sit boy."

He let out a groan, laying face first in the dirt. When he got to his feet, he brushed himself off and pouted. He turned his head away from me, as the three of us headed to Kaede's village.

"I saw that coming from a mile away." Myoga said, "Yeah, so did I." Shippo agreed.

"Why didn't you go with Kagome when she went down the well?" Shippo asked, "I don't think I could be much help in this situation. My temper would get in the way because of how I feel about this whole situation. I would have probably just exploded with anger at that spirit. She may not be alive anymore but that doesn't mean she can harm them just because she's angry." I explained. "Besides, I'd rather stay here and spend time with you." I hugged Shippo tightly, fawning over how cute he was. Shippo panicked, trying to get away as I rubbed my face on his. He was just too cute.

"Ah, Inuyasha, help me!" Shippo cried out.

"Heh... Now, you're asking for my help when you insulted me a few minutes ago and caused her to say sit?"

"Will you just get her off of me?!" Shippo yelled, reaching out for him.

"Aww, Shippo. Don't be like that!" I whined.

"Nah,"

"Fine, I'm sorry I called you an idiot!" Shippo apologized, "Now, please help me!"

"Oh, alright." Inuyasha sighed. Shippo was suddenly plucked out of my arms, making me gasp in shock. Inuyasha then dropped Shippo onto the ground, making him yelp. "Jerk!" Shippo yelled, brushing himself off as he stood up.

"HEY!"

"You were gonna smother Shippo. As much as I don't like having him around, Kagome would have my head if she found out I let you smother him to death because you're fawning over him." Inuyasha said, I pouted when I realized he was right about that.

"Damn... I hate to admit you're right about that." I mumbled, crossing my arms. I got the feeling that everything at home was alright, Kagome had this way about her personality that she could persuade even the meanest of kids to come to. "Aren't you going home anytime soon?" Inuyasha asked, "What? Is my presence bothering you that much?" I asked, tilting my head. "No, it's not. I'm just wondering why you are still here." Inuyasha shrugged, "I have questions for Myoga and Kaede about my parents." I said, looking over my shoulder. "What about your parents? Aren't they from your time?" Shippo asked, "No, Shippo. My birth parents are from here... But I never knew them. One of my parents put me in the Bone Eater's Well to keep me safe, they wanted someone from the village to find me. At least that's what the note they left with me said. Before anyone could find me in the well, I traveled between times and Kagome's mother found me the day before she had Kagome. She took me in. I don't know much about my birth parents which is why I intend to find out." I explained.
