Emi's pov
When we arrived in the village, Kagome was still on Inuyasha's back while Shippo stayed on my shoulder. I tried sniffing the air for that priest's scent but couldn't find it and neither could Inuyasha, who was currently on all fours sniffing the ground. I noticed that the villagers were all watching us and it made me very uneasy, which Shippo could sense. "Inuyasha, what's taking you so long?" Kagome asked, "Leave me alone. The smells are all mixed up, so I can't tell!" Inuyasha snapped, "What about you, Emi? Can you smell him?" She turned to look at me, "No, I can't. Inuyasha isn't lying about the smells around here. I didn't even get a good smell of his scent when he first appeared." I said, "Yeah, we were hanging off the cliff when he first showed up." Shippo explained, "People are gathering around!" Kagome said, I looked back at the people and shook my head. "They're really suspicious of us." Shippo noted, "Yeah, of course, they are. The three of us aren't fully human and we are traveling with one human girl. Of course, they'd be suspicious of us. And Inuyasha is not helping them be any less suspicious." I stated, "Where'd that bugger go?" Inuyasha sniffed, I sweatdropped as I watched him. "Demons here in our village?" The first villager said, the stares that we were getting were starting to get to me. It reminded of how people used to point and stare at me while I was with my mother at the store, she hated people doing that and would give them an earful for being so rude.
"See?!" Kagome exclaimed.
"That guy and kid aside, look at that girl." I growled at the villager, "Is she a demon?" The second one asked, "Who, me?" Kagome asked, looking shocked. "Would ya quit staring?!! She's not a demon, you assholes. She's human! Why don't you mind your own business?!!" I snapped, causing Shippo to look at me in shock. He wasn't expecting that kind of behavior from me, but I didn't care at the moment. "Good for you!" Inuyasha sneered, as he looked up at the villagers. He then continued sniffing the ground, "He's probably not here." Kagome stated, Inuyasha suddenly shoots up, flings over a door and peers into a barrel. He then goes back to sniffing the ground, "No doubt about it. He's here." Inuyasha said, "Why would a robber hang around..." Kagome trailed off, she let out a loud gasp and pointed towards something. "Oh!" I followed her line of vision and spotted her bike parked outside one of the huts. The four of us head over to the hut, my ears twitched as I heard the sound of musical instruments and singing coming from inside. That's when I caught onto a familiar scent, the same one that I caught a brief whiff of back when Kagome got kidnapped.
Inuyasha and I bursted into the room with Shippo and Kagome, "You!" He shouted, "You bike thief!" Kagome yelled, "Oh, it's you!" The priest stands up and rushes to Kagome, holding her hand happily. "You're just what I need. You're a sight for sore eyes!" He said, his eyes then landed on me. "Well, hello, there." He said, "You are very pretty, there's no way.. You're a full fledged demon." He said, "I'm not. I'm a half demon. And thanks for the compliment but I don't take them from guys who kidnap my sister." I said, Inuyasha growled sounding irritated. He flexes his claws, "I'll take care of you!" Inuyasha attacked the priest, who dodges him quickly. "Hold it." He began running backwards, "Such violence." He said, "What do you mean?! Just who was it that used a tanuki to attack us?! I guess you're not ready to hand over the Jewel fragment." Inuyasha snapped.
The priest smiles and holds up Kagome's necklace with the Sacred Jewel inside, I bit back the urge to jump onto him to get it. "This isn't something a demon should have." He said.
"Don't get funny!" Inuyasha snapped, the priest leaps out of the balcony and runs off with Inuyasha running after him. "Come on!" I grabbed Kagome's hand, following Inuyasha as he chased the priest. After a few minutes, we lost the two of them during the chase but I found Inuyasha's scent and quickly followed after it. "What's going on?" A villager asked, "A demon?" When I heard that, I knew they were talking about Inuyasha and that priest. "He's slaying demons?" Another one said, "Hey! A priest is slaying demons!" Another villager shouted, just as we found a crowd of people surrounding Inuyasha and the priest. "You use your powers to save people? Why, you're nothing but a robber. Give us back that Sacred Jewel fragment. We went to a lot of trouble to gather all those fragments!" Inuyasha stated, "I understand..." The priest trailed off as he held up the Sacred Jewel, I wanted nothing more than for Inuyasha to get that jewel back from him. "However, it would be best for you to let me keep this, Inuyasha..." I was surprised to hear the priest say Inuyasha's name, I didn't think he knew of him. Not everyone did know about Inuyasha, they may have heard about Kikyo since she was the one guarding the Shikon Jewel.
"So, you know who I am?" Inuyasha asked.
"Not at all." Inuyasha seemed to deflate with the priest's words, "Your beautiful companions called you by that name." I scoffed at the man, while Kagome started blushing at his compliment. "My, he doesn't seem to be such a bad person." I looked at Kagome like she was crazy, Shippo pinches her cheek. "Wake up, Kagome! He stole your Jewel!" He yelled, "He's right, Kagome." I said, "Though, it did feel really nice to be called beautiful..." I muttered, making Shippo huff at my words.
"You won't be flapping your lip when I get done with you." Inuyasha sprints forward and swung Tetsuiga at the priest, who blocks all of Inuyasha's attacks easily while running backwards. "You're very strong." As the priest runs backwards, he trips over a pile of logs and fall backwards. Inuyasha takes the opportunity and knocks off his staff, causing the priest to gasp and sit up. Inuyasha pointed Tetsuiga in the guy's face, he was not scared to make that man pay for stealing the jewel shard. "Hand that Sacred Jewel fragment over, if you want to live." Without saying a word, the priest somersaults into the air backwards and sprints away. I don't think this guy is ever gonna stop running, which irritated Inuyasha. "Oh?! Trying to run again?" Inuyasha shouted, "People! Get as far away as possible, for your safety!" The priest shouted, I had a bad feeling about this while everyone stared at him in confusion. Since nobody listened to him, he took off again and this time I also gave chase with Inuyasha. "Wait, Emi!! Come back!" Kagome called after me, but I kept running behind Inuyasha and eventually caught up with him.
"What are you doing? Let me handle this." Inuyasha said as we finally stopped on the outskirts of town.
"No way am I letting you fight on your own. That guy has a weird power and I can't just let you go off alone. What if you don't come back, Idiot?" I snapped at him.
"Hey, who are you calling an idiot?!"
"You! You stupid idiot!"
"Will you quit arguing with me?! We have a thief to catch." I grumbled curse words under my breath, looking away from Inuyasha. "Give up! You lost." Inuyasha said, turning his attention onto the priest. The priest smirked and held up his right hand, making both Inuyasha and I nervous. "Sorry, but I hate losing." Inuyasha moved himself in front of me as the priest removes the beads around his right hand, "Wind Tunnel!" A black hole on his palm is revealed and starts sucking in the air and ground. I felt my body move forward as I tried to dig my shoes into the dirt but it was no use, Inuyasha thrusted Tetsuiga into the ground to gain a foothold and grabbed onto me so I wouldn't go flying off. I watched as horses, chickens and other things were sucked into that black hole in his hand.
"What the hell?! How does he have that big of a hole in his hand and why is sucking in everything?! It's just like a black hole in space."
