Chapter 11: A Quiet Day Together
The quiet of Avengers Tower was a rare and precious thing. For once, the usual buzz of activity was absent, replaced by a serene stillness. The rest of the Avengers were away on a mission, leaving only Thor, Madilyn, and Loki in the massive building. With Loki restricted to one floor under strict surveillance, Thor and Madilyn found themselves with a rare opportunity to spend time together without the need for secrecy.
Madilyn woke up to the gentle sound of rain pattering against her window. She stretched and smiled, remembering that they had the day to themselves. Slipping out of bed, she wrapped herself in a cozy robe and padded to the kitchen. She was greeted by the warm, inviting smell of freshly brewed coffee.
Thor stood at the counter, his broad back turned to her as he poured two mugs. He turned, his eyes lighting up as he saw her. "Good morning, Madilyn."
"Good morning," she replied, her voice soft and warm. She took the mug he offered and sipped, savoring the rich flavor. "It's nice to have some peace and quiet for a change."
Thor nodded, a gentle smile playing on his lips. "Indeed. I think we both deserve a break from all the chaos."
They settled into a comfortable rhythm, making breakfast together and talking about everything and nothing. The walls that usually surrounded their hearts seemed to melt away in the simplicity of the moment. They laughed over shared stories and enjoyed the normalcy that was so often elusive in their lives.
After breakfast, they decided to explore parts of the Tower that were usually bustling with activity. They wandered through the training rooms, the labs, and the common areas, sharing anecdotes and making plans for the future. Thor showed her a few Asgardian combat techniques, which led to playful sparring sessions that ended in fits of laughter.
By midday, they found themselves on one of the upper floors, where a large window offered a stunning view of the city below. The rain had stopped, leaving the world outside looking fresh and renewed. They sat side by side on a plush couch, simply enjoying the view and each other's company.
Thor turned to her, his expression thoughtful. "Madilyn, I've been meaning to ask... are you truly happy here? With me?"
She looked at him, her eyes reflecting the sincerity of her feelings. "Yes, Thor. I'm happier than I've ever been. Being with you feels... right."
He took her hand, his thumb gently tracing circles on her skin. "I feel the same way. I know there are challenges ahead, but I want us to face them together."
Madilyn smiled, leaning in to kiss him softly. "We will."

In the afternoon, they decided to check on Loki. As they approached the restricted floor, they could hear Loki's voice, muffled by the thick walls. When they entered, Loki was lounging on a luxurious sofa, flipping through a book with an air of boredom.
"Ah, the lovebirds," Loki drawled, glancing up with a smirk. "Come to check on the prisoner, have you?"
Thor crossed his arms, giving his brother a stern look. "Behave, Loki. You know the terms of your freedom."
Loki rolled his eyes but sat up, setting the book aside. "Yes, yes, I'm well aware. I was merely making an observation." He looked at Madilyn, his expression softening slightly. "I do hope you're enjoying your time together."
Madilyn nodded, sensing a rare moment of sincerity in Loki's words. "We are. Thank you, Loki."
Loki raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Don't thank me yet. This peace won't last forever, you know."
