Chapter 23: Gender reveal
Four months had passed since Madilyn had first discovered she was pregnant, and life at Avengers Tower had settled into a calm, steady rhythm. The initial shock had given way to excitement and anticipation, and the days were filled with planning and preparing for the arrival of their little one. Thor and Madilyn had grown even closer, their bond deepening as they navigated this new journey together.
The support from the Avengers had been unwavering. Natasha had taken on the role of a protective older sister, constantly checking in on Madilyn and offering advice. Steve was always there with a reassuring word or a helping hand, and even Tony had softened, making sure Madilyn had everything she needed.
Today was a special day. Thor and Madilyn had an appointment to find out the gender of their baby. The atmosphere in their shared apartment was buzzing with excitement and a touch of nervousness.
"Are you ready?" Thor asked, his eyes sparkling with anticipation as he gently rubbed Madilyn's growing belly.
Madilyn smiled, feeling a flutter of excitement mixed with nerves. "As ready as I'll ever be. I can't believe we're finally going to find out."
They made their way to the doctor's office, hand in hand. The waiting room was filled with expectant parents, all sharing the same nervous excitement. Thor held Madilyn close, his presence a steady comfort.
When their names were called, they followed the nurse into a cozy examination room. Madilyn lay down on the examination table, her heart pounding in her chest. Thor sat beside her, holding her hand tightly.
The doctor, a kind woman with a gentle smile, entered the room. "Good afternoon, Madilyn, Thor. How are we feeling today?"
"Nervous but excited," Madilyn admitted, glancing at Thor.
Thor nodded in agreement. "We're ready to find out."
The doctor smiled warmly. "Well, let's take a look, shall we?" She applied the gel to Madilyn's stomach and began the ultrasound, the room filling with the rhythmic sound of the baby's heartbeat.
Madilyn's eyes filled with tears of joy as she watched the screen. Thor squeezed her hand, his own eyes misty with emotion. They watched in awe as the image of their baby came into view, tiny and perfect.
"Everything looks good," the doctor said reassuringly. "Now, are you ready to find out the gender?"
Madilyn nodded, her heart racing. "Yes, please."
The doctor smiled, moving the probe slightly. "Congratulations, you're having a girl."
Tears of joy streamed down Madilyn's face as she turned to look at Thor. His expression was a mix of awe and pure happiness. "A girl," he whispered, his voice filled with wonder. "We're having a daughter."
Madilyn could hardly believe it. "A daughter," she repeated, her voice trembling with emotion. "Oh, Thor, we're going to have a little girl."
Thor leaned down and kissed her forehead, his heart overflowing with love. "She's going to be perfect, just like her mother."
The rest of the appointment passed in a blur of excitement and joy. They left the doctor's office, hand in hand, their hearts filled with dreams of their future daughter.
Back at the tower, they shared the news with the team. The Avengers celebrated with them, their joy palpable. Natasha hugged Madilyn tightly, tears of happiness in her eyes. "A little girl," she said, her voice filled with warmth. "She's going to be so loved."
Even Tony, who had been initially skeptical, couldn't hide his smile. "Looks like we've got another Avenger in the making," he joked, clapping Thor on the back.
As the evening wore on, Madilyn and Thor retreated to their apartment. They sat together, talking about names and nursery ideas, their excitement growing with each passing moment. They knew that the road ahead would be filled with challenges, but they also knew that they would face them together, their love and strength guiding them through.
That night, as they lay in bed, Thor wrapped his arms around Madilyn, his hand resting gently on her stomach. "Our daughter," he whispered, his voice filled with awe. "I can't wait to meet her."
Madilyn smiled, feeling a sense of peace and contentment. "Me too, Thor. Me too."
As they drifted off to sleep, their hearts were filled with dreams of the future, of the adventures that awaited them as a family.
