Chapter 35: Millie's First Christmas
Stark Tower was adorned with twinkling lights and festive decorations, filling the air with a warm and cheerful atmosphere as Christmas approached. Madilyn and Thor watched with joy as Millie toddled around the living room, her eyes wide with wonder at the colorful ornaments and glowing tree.
"It's her first Christmas," Madilyn murmured, smiling at Millie's curious exploration.
Thor nodded, his heart swelling with pride as he watched his daughter. "Indeed," he agreed, scooping Millie up into his arms. "And it shall be a grand celebration."
That evening, the Avengers gathered for a festive dinner. The table was laden with delicious food, and laughter filled the room as they exchanged gifts and shared stories of their adventures throughout the year. Millie sat on Thor's lap, eagerly tearing wrapping paper and giggling with delight at each new toy.
As the evening wore on and the festivities wound down, Thor found himself alone with Millie in the softly lit living room. She played contentedly with a plush toy, her babbling filling the air.
Thor watched her intently, a thoughtful expression on his face. He had noticed something peculiar in recent weeks—occasional flickers of energy and unexplained phenomena whenever Millie was upset or excited. It had been subtle at first, easy to dismiss as coincidence, but now he couldn't ignore the possibility.
"Mjolnir, do you sense anything unusual about Millie?" Thor murmured, directing his question to his enchanted hammer resting nearby.
To his surprise, Mjolnir hummed softly in response, a faint glow emanating from its surface. Thor's brow furrowed as he considered the implications. Could Millie have inherited powers akin to his own?
Lost in thought, Thor didn't notice Madilyn enter the room until she gently touched his shoulder. "What are you thinking about?" she asked softly, concern etched in her features.
Thor turned to face her, Millie still cradled in his arms. "I believe Millie may possess abilities," he confessed, his voice tinged with awe and uncertainty. "I have sensed energies around her, subtle yet undeniable."
Madilyn's eyes widened in surprise, but she nodded thoughtfully. "She is special, just like you," she said tenderly, stroking Millie's cheek. "Whatever abilities she may have, we will figure it out together."
Thor nodded, a mixture of pride and apprehension swirling within him. "Indeed," he agreed quietly, pressing a kiss to Millie's forehead. "She is our daughter, and we will protect her."
As they settled into the quiet of the night, the glow of the Christmas tree casting a warm glow over them, Thor and Madilyn held Millie close, their hearts full of love and hope for the future.
