YOU AND MATT WEREN'T THE TYPES to dress up and get super fancy for occasions. you'd both rather go to parties where you could wear jeans or simple dresses. or, you'd rather stay home and not leave matt's bed for the whole night. just talking about random shit and cuddling. it never got old.

but, you both knew senior prom is a huge thing that apparently you never wanna miss. both you and matt think it's bullshit. you both couldn't care less to show up. but, you knew people would be expecting you and matt to show up because you and matt were the schools power couple. you and matt thought it was a little funny that everyone in a relationship at the school looked up to you and matt. but to you and to matt, you were just an ordinary couple. you didn't see why you were so special to people. but you both were.

there was a rumor going around that people were voting you and matt as prom king and queen for the year and it made matt a little anxious. it was the same for you.

but, even though you both didn't really want to go, you knew you'd have each other and that's all you cared about. you could just show up, dance for a bit and take some photos, then leave. as long as matt was by your side, you'd be okay.

currently, you were in marylou's bedroom as she helped you get ready for prom while matt was in chris's room while nick and chris helped matt get ready. you thought it was a little funny how to family besides matt insisted on getting ready in different rooms so you could have a grand entrance. everyone was acting like it was your wedding and it made you laugh.

"are you nervous?" marylou asked as she finished curling the last strand of your hair.

"not really, actually. it's just a school dance." you giggled.

"oh, honey, it's your senior prom. doesn't every girl look up to this day?" she asked as she reached for the bottle of hair spray. "with her prince charming." marylou added, smirking at you.

you laughed. "yeah, lots of girls do. but matt and i are boring and simple people. we don't really care for these kinds of things." you explained.

"that's exactly what matt told me." she smiled. "you guys are allowed to have your opinions and there's nothing wrong with that. however, i'm glad you are both going." marylou smiled as she placed the hairspray back down after using it on your hair.

"you look beautiful, honey. that dress suits you so well." marylou stood you up as you faced the mirror.

"thank you, marylou." you smiled at yourself in the mirror as you smoothed out your dress, then your turned around and hugged marylou.

meanwhile, matt was just fed up with his brothers trying to make him look good. chris wouldn't stop touching his hair and nick was taking forever to tie his tie.

"come on, matt! just a little bit!" chris begged.

"no, chris! i don't want any fuckin' hair gel! you're gonna give me a damn comb over! my hair looks fine." matt yelled, running his hand through his hair. he knew you wouldn't want him to change just for a school dance. besides, you loved his middle part. it suited matt and made him who he was.

"you're so annoying." chris scoffed.

nick finally finished tying matt's tie then brought him over to his mirror. "your suit matches her dress so well. she's gonna love it, matt." nick smiled. "are you excited?"

"i'm doing this for y/n. i just want to spend time with my girl." matt explained.

"fair." nick nodded. "well, me and chris need to get ready. don't leave without us, matt, i swear."
