ONE WEEK. HOW HAS IT BEEN one week since you and matt argued and broke up? everything has been moving so slow for the both of you. matt has been struggling to keep up with work every day since. sometimes his mind would drift back to the words he dared to speak to you, and it destroyed him. it fucking crushed him to the core. he hasn't stopped thinking about you since you left. it only took him an hour to realize and regret every word he said. he hated himself, he's never hated anyone more than himself; matt could barely look at himself in the mirror most days because he hated himself so much.

you were dealing with the situation just as bad as matt was. you felt just as defeated and guilty as he did. you knew you both could've taken the situation differently and you could've talked everything out, but there was something in you both that snapped and you lost it with each other that morning. it was never supposed to end like this, things could've been different.

your dad was furious when you showed up to his house that morning. he terrified you, and you were terrified for matt.

"Y/N?" YOUR DAD ASKED, SEEING AS your face was pale as tears were brimming in your eyes. "what happened, honey?" he asked concerned, then turned around and called out for your mom. his eyes flicked down to see a bag in your hands and he immediately knew what was going on.

"it's matt..." is all you needed to say until your dad embraced you in a tight hug. that's when you felt something in you break and you started sobbing. "he doesn't love me, i should've listened." you sobbed.

"shh... it'll be okay." you dad soothed, holding you tight as your mom came running to the sound of your sobs.

"y/n? oh sweetheart, what happened?" you mom asked, pure concern in her tone as she placed her hands on your shoulders.

"matt and i broke up." you sobbed harder, everything hitting you as matt's words started to reply in your mind. no man would speak those words to the girl he truly loved. so in this exact moment, it was safe to say matt's love for you was not real.

"i'm going to kill him." your dad mouthed to your mom. your mom looked back at your dad, sighing then taking you into her arms.

once you had finally calmed down and somewhat stopped sobbing, your dad told you he needed to hear what happened to make you end up here. you knew you couldn't show up here like this without an explanation, so you had to tell your parents, even if you knew your dad would loose his shit and most likely drive to your apartment and threaten to murder matt. but a part of you knew you'd make sure your dad would leave matt alone, knowing that half of this was your fault as well. you took deep breaths to try and calm yourself down as you and your parents filed into the living room and sat on the large couch.

"matt and i got into an unexpected fight this morning," you started, taking one last deep breath. your parents nodded in sync to let you know they were listening. "it all happened so fast it still feels like a blur. when matt and i woke up this morning we were all over each other and he was so sweet. but i knew there was something i needed to tell him, which went south." you paused, your breath hitching in your throat as tears burned at your eyes, but you swallowed them back.

"take your time, honey." your mom said softly as your dad nodded.

"as you know matt had gotta a new assistant recently who i've had a bad feeling about her since the start. i see the way she looks at him and it bothers me, and matt knew about that before but didn't really do much about it. and it's not like i expected him to fire her just because i was uncomfortable because that's fucked up; but i just wished he could've put her in her place somehow. anyway, it was only when i told him how a few days ago how when nick and i were hanging out and talking about julia, we figured out she had gone to our high school and had a clear obsession over matt. nick and i think she took the job just so she could be close to him, because why else would she happen to randomly work for matt at prada?" you explained.
