The Boy Next Door *On Hold*

Witney POV

The bell rang signaling that lunch was over. I grabbed what was left of my food and made my way to English. Blah.

"I'll see you later." I said to Lindsay.

She waved and walked towards her class.

I walked into the classroom and took my usual seat next to Caleb. He was a little on the nerdy side but he was nice. He had brown hair that covered his forehead and green eyes and he wore big bulky glasses that gave him a kind of damsel in distress look.

"Hey." I said flashing a smile and sitting down.

"Hi."

Okay so he wasn't the best at holding conversation but that's better than our first, when he didn't even look at me.

I glanced at the clock. 12:34. Class starts in less than a minute and Brooklyn isn't here yet. She wasn't at lunch either.

Val strolled into the classroom right before Mr. Greene did.

"Alright class, please take your homework out and begin you do now." Mr. Greene said.

"Hey what happened to Brooklyn?" I asked Val when I caught up to him in the hallway.

"I don't know. I think her dad came and picked her up."

"Oh." I said walking to my locker.

Brooklyn said her dad was on a business trip for the next two weeks in DC why is he home early?

School's finally over and now I'm making my way to Brooklyn's house. She misses school sometimes but she never just leaves in the middle of the day without and explanation.

I told my brother Cade I was going to Brooklyn's house to finish a project and sent him home alone.

My brother and I are twins but I'm in mostly advanced classes and he's... not. so lying to him is usually rather easy.

I came up to Brooklyn's front door and rang the bell.

"I'LL GET IT!" I heard Brooklyn yell.

She opened the door and stepped outside.

"Hey what happened to you today?" I asked.

"I uh- wasn't feeling well, so I got sent home."

I raised my eyebrow.

"Fine. There was a little bit of a family emergency so I had to come home early and save the day."

"You suck at lying."

"I know." she said putting her head down in shame.

"You hungry?" I asked.
