I'm working on getting the media back in the chapters and I'm slowly fixing the errors in the book. Sorry for the long wait.

Chapter 38

Brooklyn POV

I could hear small fragments of Val's conversation.

"You can't hurt her." I heard Val say.

What are they planning to do to me?

"And if you don't start defending you kind, I might have to take matters into my own hands."

The door opened and Val came back inside. He looked upset.

"What happened?" I asked when he sat down on the bed.

"You promise you won't get mad?" He asked not looking at me.

I put my hand in his shoulder. "I swear just tell me what they're gonna do to me." I could hear the worry coating my voice.

"I think they're gonna turn you to use me against your dad." He said without looking at me.

"How are they gonna use me against my dad?"

Val looked at me with anger.

"Don't play dumb Bruno told me the truth about you're dad."

"I'm not playing dumb. Who's Bruno?"

"Look I've tried to help you but if you're just gonna keep secrets from me then I'm gonna let you get through this on your own."

"I'm not keeping secrets."

"Really what does your dad do for a living. And I want the truth."

I swallowed. "He- he works for the government."

Val looked at me with disgust.

"What? That's what he does! You should be glad I even told you that! If anyone found out it would be my head and my dad's job so stop giving me dirty looks!"

"So he kills vampires for the government?" Val asked sarcastically.

My eyes widened with shock.

"Wow..." He said fake laughing. "You know I've always been honest with you from the d-"

"YOU NEVER TOLD ME YOU WERE A VAMPIRE YOU IMBECILIC FUCKTARD!"

Val pushed me down on the bed and climbed on top of me. He held my wrists with one of his hands as I struggled under his body weight. I could see that his eyes were now a cold grey, almost white I guess.

"You know you shouldn't call people names." His fangs were showing now. I figured he was either really angry or he was going to bite me. Either way it wouldn't end well for me.

"Val... D-don't do something you might regret."

His eyes softened and before I knew it I felt his lips on mine. They were so soft and I couldn't help but kiss back. He let go of my wrists and my hand grabbed the side of his face.

I turned my head to the side so I could catch my breath and Val sat up.

"I'm sorry. I- I don't know what I was-"

"It's fine." I said sitting up. "It was... Nice."

Val searched my face before leaning back in and placed his lips back onto mine. I shifted my body weight before flipping us over so I was on top. I felt him smile.

Everything was perfect until a growl erupted from my stomach.

Val chuckled. "You hungry?"

I blushed. "A little."

I couldn't help but notice the aroma coming from downstairs.

"Alright Brookieboo, let's go get you something to eat."

I rolled my eyes and followed him downstairs to the kitchen. I could hear familiar voice, but my growling stomach was distracting me from focusing on anything.

"Where the hell is my daughter?"

"She's right here.."

"This is not my fucking kid, where is she?"

"Take one more step and I'll kill her."

Val squeezed my arm and spun me around. "Brooklyn look at me." He bit his lip before speaking up again. "I want you to stay right here, I'll get you food and bring it back, just stay here."

"Why-"

"Just, trust me. Alright?"

I hesitated, but nodded.

"Stay put."
