Chapter 39
Val POV

I did my best trying to contain my nerves/excitement. I've been wanting to kiss Brooklyn for the longest time now. I mean sure, senior year was a bit of a long time to wait but, better late than never.

And I'm glad I got to kiss her before I got killed, because when she finds out that Bruno turned her, she's gonna kill me.

Having a human in the house isn't making this situation any better. That human being her dad also isn't making this situation any better. If her instincts kick in, she could kill him and not even notice it's him. On top of that she's a new born meaning as of right now, she's stronger and faster than me. There's not much I can do to protect Tony.

"Ah Val, nice of you to join us." John said as I walked into the kitchen. I hissed at him. My warning for him to back off.

I opened the fridge and pulled out a blood bag.

"Val?" Tony said. I forgot he was in the room. I mentally cursed at myself for being so stupid and turned around.

"Hey, Mr. T."

"You're going to drink that?"

"Huh? Oh this? Pft.. I- it's for Sleeps.. He's having surgery and, in case he loses blood this bad boy will be right here.."

Tony narrowed his eyes at me. "Where's Brooklyn?"

"She- she's upstairs.. Sleeping."

I could hear footsteps coming towards the kitchen. I panicked.

"Um... I'll see you later Mr. T." I ran out of the kitchen at a humane speed. I'm sure he knew I was a vampire because I most definitely gave myself away, but I have other things to deal with right now.

I grabbed Brooklyn and pulled her away from the door.

"What are you doing!?" I whisper shouted.

"I need to see my dad."

"Brooklyn if you go in there all hell is going to break lose, and someone's not gonna make it out alive."

"I don't car-"

"So you're gonna risk your dad's life just because you want to see him?"

"He can help me before they hurt me, he can get me out of this hell hole."

"Brooklyn come upstairs, and I swear I will find another way to get out of here, if it's the last thing I do."

Brooklyn stood in place for a while, contemplating what she would do. I wanted to drag her along, but I also didn't want to upset her and cause her to have an outburst.

"No."

"What?"

"I'm not going back up there. I'm going home."

"Broo-"

"I'm going home." She growled. Her eyes were turning slightly red.

Oh god please help me.

"Brooklyn, I am trying to protect you."

She shoved me back into a wall. "I don't need you to protect me. I'm a big girl now." She walked away from me and into the kitchen.

"Brooklyn, you can't go in there."

"Why not."

I ran a hand through my hair. "Brooklyn he turned you, Bruno fucking turned you. If you go in there, you could not only bring harm to your father, but there's also a chance you could kill him."
