Val POV

I woke up next to Brooklyn. I never thought I would be able to say those words... Well think them.

I remember during the night she started screaming and Bruno came in and injected something into her neck that put her back to sleep.

I watched her sleep. I loved the way her hair laid messily all over her head. She looked so much like her dad that they could probably pull off being brother and sister. If her dad was a little younger and a brunette.

I eventually stopped staring at her and fell asleep. I woke up to her slapping me. I noticed one thing; she had a very faint heartbeat. This had me worried. I know she doesn't want to be a vampire and if she finds out that she would probably lose it.

Bruno walked in and requested to talk to me. As of right now I'm outside the bedroom with him.

"Now I'm sure you know that Brooklyn's father is one of the most famous vampire hunters in the world."

I furrowed my brows. I did not know this. I always thought he was a doctor until John told me he worked for the government. I didn't know he was a vampire slayer.

Why didn't Brooklyn tell me this?

"I'm guessing you didn't know this."

I shook my head. "No Sir."

"Okay well the council is tired of Tony killing us off an-"

"Wait... Was my stepdad in on this in anyway?"

Bruno nodded.

Everything finally started falling into place now. Kidnapping Brooklyn, turning her into a hybrid.

They were gonna use Brooklyn to get to her dad. She was bait and I've been completely blind to it this whole time.

"You can't hurt her." I said.

"I am allowed to do whatever I want."

"Sir, she can only take so much. She lost her mom when she was six and every time her father goes on a mission she probably fears for his life like there's no tomorrow. Please..."

"You can beg all you want. It won't change what her father has done to our kind. And instead of defending that puny human you should defend your kind."

I narrowed my eyes at him.

"And if you don't start defending your kind, I might have to take matters into my own hands." And with that he walked away.
