Yeji's Pov:
The weight of the meeting with the President lingers in my mind as I navigate through the bustling streets of Seoul.
I mentally prepare for the conversation ahead, cursing myself for forgetting that my ex, Choi Yeonjun, is the President's nephew.
Yeonjun, the spoiled child who always got what he wanted, ended our relationship because he demanded my loyalty while having side hookups himself.
I sigh, trying to calm my nerves as I pull into the President's driveway. Grabbing my phone, I text our team group chat.
Idiots🤍
Are you guys here yet?
Felix: I'm about to reach, Minho is with me.
Lia: I'm here outside with Seungmin.
Karina: I'm here too, in the driveway.I'm in the driveway as well. See you guys soon.
Seen.Stepping out of my car, I spot Karina nearby. I wave, and she waves back before pulling me into a tight hug. I chuckle at her enthusiasm.
"Good to see you, Yejiiiii," Karina says with a grin.
"You act like we haven't seen each other in years," I chuckle. "We just saw each other yesterday, and remember, I'm your captain here."
"But still, it's good to see you, Captain," she replies in a pouty voice.
"Okay, okay, nice to see you too, Karina," I say, smiling.
"Let's head inside?" I say while pulling away from the hug and Karina nods in response.
We walk together towards the entrance, and the grand doors of the President's residence open to reveal a stern-faced butler. He gestures us inside without a word. The opulence of the mansion is overwhelming, but we don't have time to admire it as we follow the butler to a spacious meeting room.
Lia and Seungmin already seated inside around a large table. As we sit down next to them Felix and Minho enter aswell. The air is thick with anticipation.
Felix gives me a quick nod, and Minho raises an eyebrow, silently questioning my state of mind. I give them a small smile to reassure them. Since they knew about Yeonjun.
The door opens again, and in walks President Choi, followed closely by Yeonjun. My breath catches in my throat as our eyes briefly meet before he looks away, his expression unreadable. The President takes his seat at the head of the table, and Yeonjun stands behind him, arms crossed.
"Thank you all for coming on such short notice," President Choi begins, his voice commanding attention. "As you know, the recent murders have shocked and horrified our nation. What you may not know is that they are targeting people close to my family."
A murmur goes through the room, and I feel a chill run down my spine.
"I have reason to believe these attacks are not random," the President continues. "They are a message, and I need the best team to get to the bottom of this. That's why I called you all here."
"We'll do everything we can, Mr. President," I say, my voice steady. "But we'll need access to all relevant information and cooperation from your family."
"You'll have it," Yeonjun interjects, his voice colder than I remember. "But I expect results. Fast."
I nod, refusing to let his presence rattle me. "We'll get started immediately."
The President hands over a dossier containing details about the victims, crime scenes, and any potential leads. I open it and scan through the gruesome photos and reports. Each murder is more brutal than the last, the work of someone with a deep vendetta.
"We'll need to start with the latest crime scene," Felix suggests. "See if there's anything the initial investigators missed."
"I'll arrange for you to have full access," the President says. "And Yeonjun will assist you with anything you need."
I glance at Yeonjun, who nods curtly. "I'll make sure you have everything."
"Thank you,but we'll make sure we don't need you too much" I reply, trying to keep my tone professional and not rolling my eyes. "Let's move out, team."
As we leave the mansion, I can't shake of the fact that I'm trying to save my ex but whatever I'm saving the president aswell.
(A.N: updating as quickly as possible for you all 🤍)
