The next morning, Ana woke up with a big headache and nausea. Yesterday was a stressful day and now she is feeling the effects of it. She barely got out of bed and went to the bathroom. While she was brushing her teeth, the taste of the toothpaste turned her stomach and she threw up. She was struggling because she hadn't eaten since yesterday morning and was basically throwing up air. When she no longer felt nauseous, she somehow managed to brush her teeth and went down to the kitchen where she was met by a furious Charlie.
He didn't greet her, he immediately asked her angrily, "Do you know where Bella went and why?"
"Me and Jake were here when she left with Alice. We tried to talk her into staying but she wouldn't listen." she said and let out a breath
"With Alice? Does it have anything to do with Edward?" Charlie asked.
Ana did not know what to say to her father. What should she tell him without revealing the existence of vampires. Bella left and left Ana to clean up the mess after her. She started squirming in the chair she was sitting on and was getting nervous. She doesn't like to lie, especially not to her dad. But now she has to, she has to come up with a lie that will be convincing. In the end she decided not to say much, let Bella deal with her own mess.
"I think so. I don't know the details. I just know that they went to Edward. As far as I know he is not well and Bella needs to be with him. I don't know dad, you know that me and Bella are not on good terms, she doesn't tell me anything. When she comes back, I guess she will have a good explanation."
Charlie let out a breath "When she comes home she will be grounded for the rest of her life."
Ana didn't say anything, she didn't know what to say. Looking at her father, she saw that he was broken. One of his best friends died yesterday, his daughter left home again without any explanation.
"I'm sorry dad." Ana told him
Charlie looked up at her and furrowed his brows.
"I'm sorry about Harry, he was one of your best friends. And I'm sorry that Bella is acting like this. I know it's hard for you right now and I'm so sorry for that." she told him with her voice cracking and tears in her eyes.
Charie's gaze softened, he had a lump in his throat as he approached Ana and pulled her from the chair into a hug. She hugged him tightly and cried in his arms.
"Thank you honey, you're the only thing keeping me sane right now." he kissed her head and stroked her back trying to calm her down.
"God, Harry was a good man, he didn't deserve to die. And Sue, Leah and Seth.. How are they holding up?" Ana asked when she finally managed to calm down.
