One month have passed since the bonfire where Jake imprinted on Samantha. One month since Ana withdrew into herself and didn't communicate too much with anyone. She was not depressed, on the contrary, she had never been happier. She still hung out with Emily and spent time with the boys and came to Sam and Emily's but in a much smaller amount. While Paul is on patrol, Seth and Leah often come to her house, although Ana knows that they don't just come to hang out, but also for protection. She's not stupid, she knows that everyone is on edge because of people mysteriously disappearing in Seattle. She suspects that it all has to do with that vampire Victoria, and Ana spoke her mind to the pack. They did take her theory into account, but they can't be sure. Everyone is certainly on alert.
Bella is still under the protection of the pack and the Cullens, and often comes to La Push to Jake's place when her vampires feast on the animals in the forest. Luckily for Ana, Bella didn't bother her and without Bella in her life she is much calmer, all the stress she feels is when Paul goes on patrol and she worries about his safety.
Jake also visits her often and their relationship has improved considerably, Ana would say that they have returned to their old ways. He formed a relationship with Samantha a few days after being imprinted on her and although they are doing well, it could be better. Jake told her that Samantha is still hung up on the idea of being with Paul again but that she is also showing effectiveness towards him. Friendly, but still..
Jake was confused about the whole situation. When Ana asked him what he felt, he told her that he no longer felt anything for Bella, but also that he didn't feel what he thought he would for Samantha. He wanted her to be safe, he wanted to be near her but he didn't feel the kind of love for her that Jared, Paul and Sam described to him. As strange as it was to him, he was also relieved that he didn't have romantic feelings for her since Samantha was still showing her obsession with Paul. Ana thought that Jake's lack of feelings had something to do with that obsession and that it was holding him back in some way.
As for Charlie, Ana had a conversation with him one day in which she explained why she no longer wanted to come to his place. She told him that her relationship with Bella was no longer the same and she told him, leaving out shapeshifters and vampires, why their relationship was bad. She told him about Bella accusing her that it was her fault that Edward left her, about the cliff incident and about Edward's behavior towards her and how he attacked her. After that, Charlie broke down in tears and apologized a hundred times for not noticing what Ana was going through.
That day he came home furious and yelled at Bella who was shocked because Ana told him all that. Although Charlie still loves Bella, she is his daughter after all, but he doesn't look at her the same way anymore, he doesn't trust her, and he definitely doesn't trust Edward. All the yelling and lessons Bella received from Charlie had no effect on her, in fact, it only deepened her hatred for Ana. But she didn't torment her and cause problems, at least for now..
