Oscars povI wince as the wind blows towards me, practically throwing the rain at me. I shove my hands further into my pockets begging for even a smidge of warmth. Okay so maybe I should have dug out my old coat.
I sigh as I look at the bare trees above, the dark grey clouds peaking through the gaps, a mixture of the weather and the still looming night sky that's not yet moved on.
"Hey Oscar wait up." I smile to myself and turn to see Tyler jogging across the road, only just avoiding a passing car.
He walks beside me and pats my shoulder, wincing slightly as he does. "Jesus you're soaking, why aren't you wearing a coat?" I shrug. "I th-thought it would stop not g-get worse." He laughs before wrapping his own tighter around himself.
"My mom would freak if I left without mine while it's like this, she'd probably chase me so consider your mistaken freedom lucky." I laugh, though it comes out sort of stiffly.
Yeah... lucky.
"So d-did you study for your mock e-exam?" He laughs. "I actually did... briefly. Okay it was for like twenty minutes and then I got bored but it's fine i usually somehow pass." I shake my head fondly.
"Next t-time i'll-"
"James i'm fine just drop it." I turn and see Abby and James stood at the crosswalk ahead.
"Hey guys- jesus Oscar did you swim here?" I rub my eyes and smile. "S-shut up."
As they join us an obvious tension surrounds us. Me and James look at each other and raise an eyebrow at the realisation.
"Is everything-"
"Oh you know what, I forgot I had to be in early this morning to talk to a teacher so I better- yeah I better run, uh i'll see you guys later." I frown slightly as Tyler pats me on the shoulder and practically jogs ahead.
I turn to Abby and tilt my head.
"What w-was that about?" She shrugs and scratches her neck.
"No clue, why would I know? I'm not inside his mind or anything?"
"So nothing at all happened between you and Tyler which led to that somewhat uncomfortable two minutes before he all but ran away?" She shrugs while picking at her nails, almost refusing to look at us.
"Nope, no clue what you mean."
I sigh as we finally walk through the school doors, a thick warmth wrapping around me. I frown down at myself as my wet jumper rubs awkwardly against me, almost becoming itchy.
"Come on Abby just spit it out."
"Seriously James, it's nothing. Get a life." I giggle at the two bickering as we make our way to our locker. "You seriously don't think we're that blind do you I mean come on."
"I do, I think he's blind and you're thick and combined neither of you know what you're on about." I smile at the way James pouts.
"Why can't be the dumb one." She turns to him with a blank expression. "You and I both know he's not the dumb one, now can you-"
"Hey." I smile as I see Luke walk towards us, his hair slightly messy from where his hood has sat on it.
"Hi- whats w-wrong?" I watch as he frowns and turns back around.
"I'll be right back, stay there." I nod as he walks back out of the main door, confused at his sudden change in direction.
"Anyways so are you gonna tell us what that was about or no?" She groans and slams open her locker. "Seriously, it's nothing. You guys are just bored and seeing things."
