Oscars Pov

I let out a sigh as I enter through the heavy main door, relief flooding my body at the building for once being well heated. Really, who let September be this cold? I pull off my hat and start walking down the hallway past the few students dotted about.

I sigh as I rest my head against my locker, momentarily too exhausted to even bother reaching up and opening it. Curse whoever decided that teenagers need to be in school before 9am. I mean really, nobody is even half awake at this time and-

I wince as I feel my whole body shoved further against the locker. "Whats up freak, No new black eye?" I try and shift from where Peter keeps me held firmly in place.

"P-please stop" he snickers

"I'll take that as a no. Shame really, guess i'll have to-"

He suddenly moves

I slowly open my eyes and turn to see Peter no longer towering over me, but now thrown against the wall on the opposite side of the hallway.

Luke.

He closes the gap between them and grabs Peter by the shirt, pinning him to the locker behind him. "Leave. Him. Alone. Or so help me god, it won't be him with a black eye, got that?" he waits until Peter gives a slow nod then shoves him aside.

He spins around and stares at me, his gaze sweeping over me, almost pinning me in place.

I open my mouth to speak but before I can even say thank you he's gone, along with Peter who had practically sprinted in the opposite direction.

I stare at the somewhat empty hallway, none of the remaining students seeming bothered by what occurred.

What the hell was all of that?

I turn back to my locker, body staying rigid in slight shock mixed with still not being fully awake, not realising the two people now approaching me.

"Oscar oh my god are you ok? We heard yelling when we came in then saw Peter sprint past us." I rub my cheek, still slightly sore from the locker and nod. "Y-yeah, he shoved me bu-but Luke stopped him I g-guess?" Abbys eyebrow shoots up. "What? He stopped Peter from hitting you?" I nod.

"I g-guess we a-are kinda fr-friends since we studied t-together the ot-other day." They stare for a moment then James shrugs. "Oh well, at least he won't kill us I guess." I smile and nod as the three of us begin walking to the canteen, still overwhelmed by everything that just happened all too quickly.

"So, I got my netflix back, who wants to come over?" Abby looks at James waiting for a response. "I w-will." She snaps her head towards me.

"What? You'll come over? For real?!" I nod and smile.

My dad has been going out a lot at night, probably to see his god awful friends from his firm, which means I can go out too. I've learnt that he comes home around 10ish so if i'm home before he is, then i'm fine.

"YES FINALLY! My moms gonna be so excited and ooo you can see my dog and oh maybe even the freaky neighbours dog and-" I giggle as she continues to excitedly ramble.

We walk to the canteen while Abby practically vibrates with excitement. "God Oscar i'm so excited! I feel like im twelve or something!" I smile.

"I h-have to b-be home fo-for 9:30" she smiles and nods. "I dont care as long as you come."

We sit down at our usual tables and continue to talk.

"Psst, Oscar. Daniels is staring at you from his table, though I can't really tell if its googlie eyes or a death glare." I turn and see Luke with a blank expression on his face. I smile and turn back, he probably was just looking in this direction, not actually at us.
