Oscars pov

"Did you do the homework?" I smile at Tyler as he sits down on the table beside us. "D-did you?" He scoffs. "Oscar Harris, do you even need to ask?" I tilt my head.

"Of course I didn't, do you think I magicked some brain cells over the weekend? I still don't know whats the difference between Macbeth and Romeo." I raise an eyebrow and giggle slightly, knowing he's being dramatic.

Tyler likes to claim he's dumb but secretly he gets good grades. Though, I can't tell if he himself actually believes he's that dumb or if it's just for fun. He is in top classes for english and science for a reason.

"At least it's half a film thursday." I frown at Abby. "It's w-what?" She leans closer, almost as if talking to a child.

"Half a film thursday." I raise an eyebrow and smile. "Yeah, Mr Wilson doesn't do that." She scoffs and leans down in her seat. "I knew doing good on that last test would bite me in the ass. I'm going to ask to move back down a set." I watch as James walks in and smiles.

"It's a thursday so the sun is shining, the birds are chirping and-"

"They don't do half a film thursday in top set." He pauses before throwing himself into the seat beside Tyler.

"You're fucking kidding me? It's first class, am I supposed to just, what? Actually learn about poetry at nine thirty in the morning?" I giggle and nod.

"T-Thats what we've been doing." Tyler smirks.

"Speak for yourself, I used to sit in the back corner before Avery and Chloe took it over. Was the perfect napping spot."

We're cut off as Mr Wilson walks into the room, trying my best to ignore the exhaustion weighing down on my mind. They're right, nine thirty is a ridiculous time to be taught english.

I just hope we're doing anything but macbeth.

"Okay class, this morning is a little different. We've been in contact with your old schools and finally got each of your dear future me packs so since I know most of you will be distracted with those, use this class as a revision lesson once you've gone through them. I'll hand them out and you can start opening them as you wish." I let out a soft sigh as I watch the large envelopes start to be handed around.

I take it back, I wish we were going over macbeth.

The dear future me envelopes are letters, pictures, drawings etc from things we all did as children, specifically the age of seven. Many schools do them and always tracks the student so they can have it in high school. Most people grow more excited for these by the year but as you can guess i'm not exactly desperate to read mine.

My thought are quickly interrupted by a large white envelope landing in front of me. I quickly shove it into my bag, grabbing Mr Wilsons attention.

"You aren't going to open it Oscar?" I pause slightly before looking back at him. "Um, m-maybe later?" He shrugs and hands Tyler his.

"Fair enough, though most people like to open them with friends and have a good laugh." The second he walks away, Abby nudges me and whispers.

"Why do you wanna open it at home? Do you remember what you wrote?" I shake my head. "T-thats the problem, I ha-have no c-clue. I m-mean either way it-it's gonna hurt r-right?" I turn to look at James and he smiles softly, almost as though he has guessed what we're saying.
