((I'm so sorry this chapter is overwhelmingly cringe but like ??? Try power through cos i stg it was so much worse before. Like painfully worse.))

Oscars pov

I'm nervous, well im always nervous, but today is Friday and i'm extra nervous.

I look in the mirror and sigh, I feel like I look weird. Do i look weird? I mean i always look a little off, but i just-

I groan into my hands. I'm wearing black jeans and a green jumper. It's simple enough, and yet it still feels...

"Stop overthinking it Oscar, you look great! You always look adorable and you know green suits you so there is literally no room for error. I promise, you look genuinely amazing."

I smile at Abby through the reflection in the mirror while I fidget with my shoe laces. She allowed me to get ready at her house, though I think she just wanted to help dress me like a doll.

"I c-can't help it, i've n-never been on a date b-before." She frowns. "What about that one guy two years ago?" I shake my head as I pull at my jumper. Is the colour weird?

"Th-that wasn't a d-date, we w-was just hanging o-out after work and he ra-randomly asked to kiss m-me." She smirks. "I still can't believe you had your first kiss like that." I turn to her and smile.

"A-actually you was my f-first kiss, remember?" She groans and falls back onto the bed. "Will you ever stop mentioning that? We was nine okay? I had just learnt about phoenix mates and chose you as my candidate of soulmate. And anyways, I was talking about your first proper kiss that lasted more than a second. Though, Charlie's sweet and all but i'm kinda glad you two quickly decided to just be friends."

I hum and turn back to the mirror, ignoring the tiny voice in my head reminding me that my first actual kiss wasn't as in pleasant. Despite how awkward kissing Charlie was, at least it was welcome.

"And anyways, god knows why you've not been on a proper date yet. Like you're funny AND attractive, that's basically never heard of with guys these days! I mean, I know it's not from the lack of people trying. God knows half of your customers gawk at you-"

"What?"

"And there's that one sophomore girl that blushes anytime you're around."

"Hold o-on-"

"Oh and-"

"Okay I g-get it, I-I think?" She hums. "My point is, don't be nervous. You're a catch, plus you two hang out all the time. This isn't any different."

She's right. It's the same. Totally the same. Totally not different at all whatsoever and-

My thoughts are cut off when we hear a knock at the door. We both look at each other before heading downstairs and opening the door.

"Hey angel, you ready?" I smile at Luke and nod.

He's wearing a dark red tshirt with a black jacket and jeans. He looks nice. Really really nice.

He stares at me for a moment, his gaze trailing up and down my body. "You look great." I feel my whole face heat up, a small smile spreading on my face. "T-thankyou um, so d-do you." He chuckles and takes my hand.

"Text me when you get home, stay safe and have fun." I giggle and wave goodbye to Abby.

As soon as I get into his car he starts to drive. "Where are w-we going?" He smirks. "It's a surprise."
