Oscars povI let out a short sigh at the cold breeze that wraps itself around me as I walk to school. Part of me longs to go back to bed, then the other part of me remembers my bed is in hell itself so school it is.
At least my father keeps the house warm. Sure he's an alcoholic mess but he's still human... somewhat.
And at least he's kind of conscious about his surroundings. Probably. Although i'm not sure that makes me feel entirely better.
"Oscar?" The voice pulls me out of my thoughts and I turn my head to the side to see Tyler jogging towards me.
"Hey dude, I was shouting you. What's going on in that head of yours?" I smile sheepishly and scratch the back of my neck.
"S-sorry I was daydreaming I guess." Tyler hums.
"Well it's just you and me this morning, Luke says he won't be in until later." I feel my shoulders tense slightly.
"W-why not?" He shrugs.
"Says he has a dentist appointment or something, but he never goes to the dentist so that's definitely a lie. He's probably just got some exam he wants to avoid." I nod slowly and look ahead as he starts rambling about some story.
Is... is Luke trying to avoid me?
Does he regret friday?
Luke never avoids exams, sits and does nothing sure but he never avoids them.
I thought friday went well!l?
He- he even kissed me?
"Oscar? You okay? You're looking a little red." I turn and nod before pulling up my hood.
"I'm f-fine just cold."
He hums. "Can I ask you a question?" I nod.
Please don't be about Luke, please don't be about Luke, please don't be-
"When I get all cold and shivery, I stutter a bit, so when you get like that does your stutter get like a whole lot worse?" I blink before laughing softly.
Thank god for Tylers dumb questions.
"I s-suppose so yeah." He pouts.
"That sucks, I guess we'll have to swaddle you for the entirety of winter." I giggle at the unexpected way this conversations gone. I don't mind though, at least he didn't mention-
"Oh also how did Friday go?"
I cough, caught off guard by the question.
So much for trusting Tyler to avoid the subject.
"It we-went um okay i th-think? It was really n-nice." He hums. "I'm glad to hear, Luke wouldn't tell me anything about it." I bite my lip.
Is that because he's over it all? Was this just a curiosity thing and now he's done it he's over it?
Oh god i'm so stupid.
"When he got home I tried to text him but got no reply, then when I saw him in the morning he kept telling me to stop being nosey." He pouts a little.
"Didn't even tell me what you guys did." I laugh awkwardly but before I can respond I'm thankfully interrupted.
"Hey you guys!" We both turn and smile as James crosses the road towards us, his brown hair looking more unkept than usual.
"Woah what happened to you? Walk through a hurricane?" He groans and fixes his clothes. "No, my phone died and my watch is set to the wrong time so I thought I was late. Rushed for no fucking reason apparently." We both laugh at the tired looking boy.
