THINGS seem to be going...alright between everyone so far.
i'm sat next to katsuki and my siblings are on the other side of the picnic table we found.
the both of them sipping on their ramen and not looking away from katsuki, frowns on their faces as we sit in silence.
i can feel katsuki's tense body next to me as he sips on his own spicy ramen.
"so, have you guys gone to any of the other stalls yet?" i question in hopes it will break this tense energy that's surging between everyone.
jun from across from me finally quits staring down katsuki and turns to me with a smile.
"oh yeah! i forced futo to go through the haunted house with me," she leans in and puts a hand next to her mouth as she whispers, "he screamed like a little girl in the spider room."
"I DID NOT! I TOLD YOU IT WAS THE GIRL BEHIND US!" futo slams a fist into the table as he screams.
she side eyes him and gives me a deadpan look while shaking her head. he angrily grunts and begins slurping his ramen once again.
"so, you're this bakugou kid huh?" junko says as she finally addresses the boy sitting next to me.
"i'm not a kid."
"just answer the damn question smart ass." she sighs as katsuki clicks his tongue.
"yeah that's me. better remember it 'cuz i'm gonna be the number one hero." he crosses his arms against his chest and i can't help but smile at him. such passion, and he means every single word.
"yeah yeah," i watch as jun lets out another sigh, propping her chin against the palm of her hand. "i guess since you're him, the both of us owe you a big thanks."
she elbows futoshi in the side, getting a pained grunt in response.
"thanks for what?" his question is genuine, feeling his body slightly relax for only a moment.
"you saved our sister kid," she looks at me with a grin pulling at the dimple in her cheek, reaching a hand out to ruffle my hair. "she holds our little family together. if it wasn't for you, i don't want to think about what my life would be like without her in it. we've lost far too much already."
her tone is suddenly serious and i feel my throat tighten at her words. her eyes soften in the glowing light that illuminates them and her grin never wavers.
"i wasn't doing it for you," he states plainly, i turn to look at him, studying his face. he breaks his gaze from my sister and instead looks down at his hands that have turned into fists on the table. "i made her a promise, that i would find her. i don't break my promises."
silence fills the space between us, but it doesn't feel tense like it did before.
i watch as he looks back up at my sister, brows tucked together.
