the sky was cloudy that day and the sun was peeking through the fluffy-looking clouds, not reflecting the mood and atmosphere that was locked inside the silent car where the married couple could be found heading to the hospital. the two haven't spoken since last night, nor have they spent more than two minutes in the same room. sunghoon decided to sleep on the couch instead of facing her with a open wound in his heart.

he knows she didn't cheat, because at the time they weren't together and hari probably wasn't even pregnant, but after putting his career on the line  he feels like he was toyed with. he still hasn't thought about what to do if it turns out that the baby isn't his, and he honestly doesn't even wanna think about this possibly, because he grew attached to the baby after all the time he spent with it.

sunghoon's intimidating gaze was firm on the road in front of him with both hands tight on the steering wheel, unlike usual where one would be resting on her thigh or intertwined with hers. hari on the other hand was staring at the very few clouds in the blue sky following their car, her stomach twisting with anxiety and her mind clouded with worries and guilt.

"we're here." he spoke coldly after parking his car in the hospital's parking lot and quickly exiting the vehicle, adjusting the coat wrapped around his body despite the chilly temperature of march before pushing the glasses resting on his nose's high bridge further up. hari's chest heaved up and down in an exasperated sigh at the entire situation, threading her fingers through her silky chocolate hair and pushing it out of her face as she fluttered her eyelids closed.

she knows she messed up, and she would honestly turn back time and turn down whoever that guy was to avoid all of this if she could, but he doesn't have to make her feel even worse than she already is.

she opened the car door and got off the automobile tiredly due to the lack of sleep from the previous night that she spent silently crying curled into a ball, walking towards the boy impatiently waiting for her near the automatic door of the hospital with an emotionless gaze on his half-lidded eyes that were focused on his phone's screen. "took you long enough." the raven began to step away from her but halted on his steps once she spoke.

"sunghoon, do you hate me?" sunghoon completely froze on his spot at her words and continued to face the opposite direction, unable to respond to her question as he stared onto empty space while reflecting on the answer that suddenly didn't seem so easy to rip out of him. he doesn't hate her, he could never bring himself to hate her, especially overnight, but as of now he doesn't feel in the right state of mind to tell her he loves her. he doesn't want to delude her with words he doesn't mean.

"it's complicated hari." the boy turned his head back just enough to catch a glimpse of her with the corner of his eye, clearing his throat and heading inside before this conversation could continue further leaving her behind on her own. the brunette felt a hot tear roll down her pale cheek and soon others joined, a trail of tears smudging her make up and melting her mascara making her look like a mess.

not like she didn't feel like one.

she finally entered the busy hospital and roamed her reddish eyes around the waiting area but her husband was nowhere to be seen, assuming he must've already gone inside without waiting for her and simply heading towards the reception to ask where she should head.

for some reasons, she always thought that the only reason why she would have visited the hospital was for an ultrasound or to give birth, not to prove that she didn't baby trap her husband.

an hour has passed since she last saw sunghoon, and there was still no sight of him. thanks to the spare key he gave her she was able to wait inside his car instead of exposing herself to cold weather outside, constantly checking her phone to see if he sent her any message only for her irises to be met with an empty notification bar each time.

yet, the sudden clicking sound of a lock being opened grabbed her attention, gazing outside the window just to notice sunghoon getting inside with a folder in his hand which made her brows furrow bewildered. did he really ditch her to grab some documents on a saturday?

he threw the papers on her lap and buckled his seat belt without uttering a word, inserting the key into the designated hole and twisting it to start the engine while not even sparing her a single glance. "sunghoon, where the hell were you? and what is this?"

"i gathered some informations about the hypothetical father and printed them for you. you know, just to let you know who to contact once the results come back."
