hari loved babies, she really did. but only when they acted cute and were quiet.

it was currently three am, and her four weeks old daughter couldn't seem to put an end to her cries, yelling her head out for who knows what reason this time and waking up the new parents. she placed her pillow over her ears while groaning at the baby's cries, pushing the blanket off her tired body and just as she was about to get up again, she was stopped by her husband's hand. “sleep. i'll get her this time.” sunghoon told her as he slid his slippers on tiredly, dragging his feet towards the wooden crib before carefully picking up miwon and rocking her in his arms.

“but hoon, you have work tom—”

“shhh, go back to sleep. i got this.” sunghoon reassured her while gently picking up the newborn in his arms, and it really didn't take much for hari to quite literally pass out on her pillow, quiet snores escaping her parted lips as sunghoon sat on the edge of their shared bed while attempting to calm the baby in his arms down by feeding her some milk. god, he knew that taking care of a newborn was hard, but he never imagined it to be so bad that getting more than three hours of sleep at night was like a miracle.

"hoon.." the brunette called him weakly, her voice barely above a whisper and raspy as her hand lifelessy attempted to reach for her lover only to land on the empty mattress beside her while the said boy hummed lowly and turning towards her sleepy body. "can you just.. not go to work tomorrow..?"

the dad chuckled tiredly whilst glancing down at the sleepy baby in his arms who had quieted down, setting her back in her crib before throwing himself on their shared bed already sensing his eyelids getting heavy and shifting closer to hari to hug her. "being the ceo isn't easy baby."

with that, the two fell back asleep in eachother's arms, finally enjoying the quietness of the house.

sunghoon woke to the soft glow of early morning light slipping through the curtains, squinting his eyes at the bright light before gently pushing hari's limp arms off his body. the boy ran a hand through his messy hair sensing the lack of sleep getting to him, his eyelids feeling heavy and his body aching in tiredness as he sat on the edge of the bed for a while.

no amount of prenatal classes prepared him for this.

he got up from the mattress and glanced back at his sleeping wife, a small smile curving his lips at the sight of her relaxed face as he tucked a strand of her chocolate waves behind her ear before kissing her forehead gently.

sunghoon really didn't want to leave, he knew work would eat him alive as soon as he started and the fear of something possibly happening to them could keep him up at night if he wasn't so tired. being away from them for so many hours was something he wasn't used to, especially now that their baby was exposed to so many dangers as well.

with the sound of running water welcoming her ears, hari began to stir in her sleep and slowly fluttered her eyes open blinking a few times before stretching her body with a sleepy grin cracking her soft features. "morning baby." hoon greeted with voice barely above a mumble as he walked out of the bathroom while buttoning his shirt, opening the closet to look for his jacket and smiling once her lazy arms wrapped around his torso and she rested her head on his muscular back. "morning." she murmured sleepily and fluttered her eyes closed for a moment.

the boy fastened the tie around his neck before turning towards her and latching his arms down her hips, planting a sweet kiss on her slightly discolored lips and one of her forehead. "can't you seriously take some more days off? iseul is gonna miss you." he chuckled whilst glancing at the wooden crib near their bed where the said baby slept peacefully, diverting his gaze down to hari who was giving him puppy eyes that sunghoon was fighting demons to resist with a pout curving her lips.

"i wish angel, but the company has been quite a mess without a ceo. i'm gonna try to come back home early today, alright." the brunette nodded disappointed at her failed efforts, letting go of him to allow him to finish dressing up as she seated herself on the edge of the bed and observed him quietly.

"don't overwork yourself okay? just call me if you need me and don't skip your meals." sunghoon kissed the top of her head and threaded his slender fingers through her messy, chocolate hair, flashing her a closed mouth smile to reassure her it was going to be okay which eased hari's heavy heart a bit.

she honestly had no idea how to take care of a baby alone, and this terrified her. she read books and attended prenatal classes but nothing prepared her for how babies actually were like. sunghoon had been taking care of their daughter better than her and the fact that he was leaving her alone with a newborn scared her.

"drive safely." she waved at him as he stepped out of the house while nodding before hari heaved out a deep sigh at the day that awaited her.
