Being a Mayor is not an easy job. Being a good leader should be responsible enough to provide fairness and justice to the people. As a politician you should be driven by honesty and loyalty and corruption is not an option to run the position and claim the throne so you can rule the power the people gave you.

The people trusted the leader, and trust is the greatest foundation that should be earned if you want to be in a higher position. And them, trusting me as I become a Mayor, I should do my responsibilities using my honesty and clear intentions.

I may not be perfect, sometimes I may be lacking but as much as possible I'm trying my best because I want to help, that is my only goal, Helping. And aside from being a Mayor in my great grandfather's town is an honor.

I was in college when my father tried to convince me to run the position. My brow shot up after hearing his sentiments.

Nandito sila ngayon sa Manila. Talagang pinuntahan pa nila ako rito upang kumbinsihin muli.

"Laurent, please. Ito lang ang hinihingi ko sayo, after one term kahit hindi kana mag re-elect, just try it for once." My father convinced me.

"No Dad, I'm not interested." I said boredly. Being a Mayor is not my job, besides I'm having fun here in Manila and after graduation pauuwin nila ako? for what running for a stupid election?

"This is the only dream of your lolo, hijo. May mamumuno sa pamilya natin kahit isa man lang after his generation."

"Bakit ako? And how about Kuya? si Lucas?"

Mom glared at me, "Are you crazy Laurent? Lucas is still young! And your kuya has a family now, it's dangerous for him to run! we all know there's a lot of death threats for that and mapalagay pa sa panganib ang pamilya niya at buntis pa ang asawa. Me and your dad as well as your Titos are all busy with our businesses. Your cousins already have a family too."

"You want me to be the Mayor, so it is okay for you if someone will shoot me with their sniper cause I don't have a family yet? how unfair." I said sarcastically.

"Anak, No! that's not what we meant!"

I sighed.

"The people need you, they are suffering right now with their current Mayor because of corruption. Nagmamahal lahat ng bilihin doon, ang mga farmers halos wala ng mga kita, kinukuhanan na sila ng karapatan, yung mga tulong na dinodonate sakanila binubulsa lang. And congratulations! San Jimenez is in the top 5 for the highest crime rate in the Philippines!" My mom said dramatically.

Congrats kung ganun.

"Please, this is not just about the political dynasty but it's all about the people who need our help." Dad added.

Ano bang meron diyan sa San Jiménez na yan at ako pa ang kailangan tumakbo at mag-represinta. Pwede namang tumulong kahit hindi na kailangan maging presidente o alkalde.

Maybe it is, being a politician is not a way to help but in San Jiménez is not the case for that. They are being controlled.

Like what my parents said laganap na ang mga masasamang gawain at corruption. Ngunit hindi pa rin nila ako nakumbinsi.

I was in my fourth year of college, I took the Business administration because I want my own business just what my family is doing right now. They wanted me to take political science but I didn't take it, pinagbigyan nila ako. Pero sa huli kukumbinsihin ulit na tumakbo.

I didn't listen and am still enjoying my life in Manila.

Party, girls, racing, and sports. Ano pa ba? Is this they really want to be a Mayor?
