John smirked, "What a beautiful day. After a long time, I get to see you, Aira Khan."
Aira felt a shiver of discomfort as he approached her. "Move away, I want to go," she said, trying to push past him.
But John didn't move. "You're the most characterless girl I've ever seen. From the outside, you look pure and modest, but inside, you're just a bad bitch."
"Don't curse in front of me," Aira said, pointing a finger at him.
John laughed, "Oh, wow. I didn't expect to see this side of you."
Aira tried again to leave, but John's grip tightened on her shoulder. "Let me go, John. Everyone is watching."
John sneered, "Because of you, my best friend and I had a fight for the first time. Do you think I'll let it go so easily?"
"It was a long time ago. Why bring it up now?" Aira asked.
"Miss Aira Khan, I'm John. I won't let my enemy go until I get my revenge," he said ominously.
Fear filled Aira's eyes, but she shouted, "Leave me, or I'll call my husband!"
John taunted, "Oh, so you're married. Congratulations."
Aira's hand shot out, aiming to slap him in anger, but before she could make contact, he retaliated with a hard slap across her face. The force of the blow left her stunned, her cheek stinging with a sharp pain. She instinctively held her face, tears welling up in her eyes and streaming down her cheeks.
As the shock of what had just happened settled in, she became acutely aware of the eyes on her. Everyone in the shop had stopped to watch the scene unfold, their expressions a mix of shock and pity. The humiliation was too much to bear.
Without another word, Aira turned and fled the shop, her heart pounding as she desperately tried to compose herself. Her hands trembled as she pulled out her phone and dialed Ahmed's number, her vision blurred by tears.
Meanwhile, Ahmed had bought several beautiful abayas and was at the counter when Aira's call came through. He excused himself from the payment and answered urgently, "Yes, baby, are you done shopping?"
"Come right now. I want to go home," Aira's voice was laced with distress.
Ahmed's concern grew. "What happened? Why are you crying?"
"Are you coming or not? I'll take a cab if you're not coming," Aira said.
Ahmed panicked. "Where are you? I'm coming right now. Please don't cry."
Aira replied, "I'm outside the Gucci outlet."
He hurriedly took the elevator and found her standing outside, crying with a flushed face. Ahmed ran to her, enveloping her in a comforting hug. "What happened, baby? Is everything okay?"
Aira sobbed, "I wanna go home."
"Okay, fine. We're going home. Stop crying now," Ahmed said, gently wiping her tears with his thumbs. He could tell she wasn't ready to share what happened, but he was deeply worried.
They drove home in silence, Aira continuing to cry throughout the ride. Once they arrived, she bolted upstairs, with Ahmed following close behind, calling out, "Don't run, Aira. Please, watch your condition."
