"Assalamualaikum"

Umer didn't answer her salam. Instead, he looked at the gift box and threw it on the bed. "Here, take your so-called wedding gift," he said.

Aira looked at the box on the bed, then at Umer, and asked, "What is this behavior, Umer? Why are you doing this to me? I noticed during the whole ceremony you were ignoring me

Aira looked at the box on the bed, then at Umer, and asked, "What is this behavior, Umer? Why are you doing this to me? I noticed during the whole ceremony you were ignoring me. What have I done? Tell me."

He moved closer to her face and said, "Don't expect anything from me, okay? You're my wife in front of my parents but not in this room. Go and take your pillow," he pointed to the couch, "and sleep there. Don't disturb me. I'm already very tired of all this drama. And you haven't changed yet. Go and change. Goodnight."

He then went to the washroom to change. Aira stood still, processing what he had just said. She took a deep breath, trying not to cry again. She sat on the bed, feeling utterly exhausted and lonely, as if no one cared about her.

When he came out of the bathroom, changed into comfortable clothes, he approached the bed. Aira looked u at him. "Go away. This is my bed," he said.

She stood up, looked straight into his eyes, then picked up the pillow as well as the gift and went to the couch without even changing. She sat there, feeling the weight of her loneliness. Umer lay down on the bed and soon fell asleep, while Aira watched him, feeling more isolated than ever.

It was now 3 a.m., and Aira hadn't slept yet. Hunger gnawed at her, but she decided to change out of her bridal dress first. he went to her wardrobe, took out a night dress, and headed to the washroom. As she looked at herself in the mirror, she saw her dolled-up reflection-her jewelry, her makeup. She moved her hands and caressed her head where the Tika was, then her cheeks, earrings, and necklace. Her makeup was almost ruined from crying.

She stepped out without changing and went to her dresser table to remove her jewelry and dupatta, which had ben aching her head for so long due to the pins and its weight. She removed the pins, and the dupatta fell to the ground. Standing in silence, showing no emotion, she just looked at her reflection with a straight face. She removed her Tika and placed it on the table, then the earrings. Struggling to find the lock on the necklace, she grew frustrated and aggressively pulled it off, hissing in pain from the force, and placed it on the table. She removed her bangles, and as she was about to go, she heard a sound while walking.

She pulled her dress a bit and saw she was still wearing anklets. She bent down, removed the anklets, and went t the washroom. Before entering, she opened her hair, which was tied in a bun, letting it fall loose around her shoulders. She then took a shower and performed her ablution.

When she came out, she saw Umer sleeping peacefully, completely unaware of her struggle and pain. First, it was hmed's rejection, and now her husband's cold behavior, treating her as if she were nothing. She had resolved to give all her love to her husband after marriage, but everything was turning out so differently.
