.
She retorted, "But you don't have any right to hit me, understand?" Her breath was hitching in fear, but she was trying her best not to lose control or become weak in front of him.
Downstairs, Mrs. Dawood got scared that Umer might hurt Aira, so she started heading towards the room. Ahmed, equally worried for Aira, didn't stop her.
Just as Umer was about to grab Aira's hand, there was a knock on the door. Umer froze, and Aira quickly sat back down on the couch.
Mrs. Dawood entered the room, her face filled with concern. "Is everything alright here?" she asked, looking between the two of them.
Umer immediately stepped back, trying to mask his anger. "Yes, mom, everything is fine," he said, his voice forced and tense.
Aira, still shaken, managed to nod. "Yes, mom, we're just... talking."
Ahmed, who had been standing at the door, watched the scene unfold with a mix of worry and frustration. He couldn't bear to see Aira in distress, but he knew intervening would only escalate the situation.
Mrs. Dawood, sensing the tension, decided to diffuse the situation. "Aira, why don't you come downstairs with me for a bit? You can help me with something."
Aira nodded gratefully, standing up carefully. "Okay, mom," she said softly.
As they left the room, Ahmed shot Umer a warning glance before following them downstairs, determined to keep an eye on things and protect Aira as best he could.
As Aira couldn't walk properly, Mrs. Dawood helped her to walk. They made their way to the garden. Ahmed, feeling helpless and not wanting to make Aira more uncomfortable, left to give them space.
In the garden, Mrs. Dawood gently caressed Aira's covered head and asked in a soft tone, "Why were you both arguing?"
Aira sighed and said, "Mom, I just asked him to take me to Appa's house. I was missing Eomma and Ayeza Eonnie, but he started to argue and said I should go with the driver."
Mrs. Dawood looked at her with a pained smile and replied, "My child, I know it's very hard for you both. I didn't know this marriage was against your will, but now it's done, and you'll need to make it work. I know Tae-min has a temper, but he has a soft heart. Give him lots of love, and slowly, his heart will soften for you."
Aira looked at her and felt a tear roll down her cheek as Ahmed's worried face flashed in her mind. Lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice Mrs. Dawood speaking again.
"Aira," Mrs. Dawood continued, "why don't you go with Taehyung tomorrow? I'll try to talk to Tae-min and make him understand. If that's okay with you?"
Aira broke from her thoughts and looked at Mrs. Dawood with innocent, teary eyes. Touched by her mother-in-law's kindness and unable to say no, she nodded her head in agreement.
After some time of talking, it was now 12 am, so Ji-so excused herself as Mr. Dawood called her. Aira sat there, watching the sky silently. Just then, Ahmed arrived and saw Aira admiring the sky with an innocent face. Hearing the noise of his car, Aira looked to her side and saw Ahmed getting out. She wanted to go to her room but couldn't manage by herself as the maids had already gone to sleep, and she didn't want to disturb them. Gathering her courage, she closed her eyes and called out to Ahmed.
"Ahmed," she called softly, standing up.
Ahmed's heart beat faster as he saw her. "Yes?" he responded.
