Izzy had promised to hang out with her friends Olivia and Maya, and she was determined to keep that promise. So when they suggested a trip to the bookstore, she readily agreed, eager for a day of chatting and browsing through shelves of books.

As they wandered through the aisles, Izzy couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment wash over her. The familiar scent of books filled her nostrils, and the sound of her friends' laughter echoed through the air, making her smile.

After what felt like hours of browsing, Izzy emerged from the store with two new books in hand, gifts from Olivia and Maya. She couldn't help but feel touched by their gesture, knowing that they had bought them for her to make her feel better. And even though she didn't need any more books — which was a lie. Izzy always found new books to buy — she appreciated the thought behind the gesture.

They had also invited her to a party a student was hosting, but at the reminder of alcohol, she refused. She honestly didn't think she'd be able to drink any alcohol anytime soon after what happened.

On a different day, Izzy found herself hanging out with CC at her place, excited for the girl that she was gonna soon compete with the Broadwick Daredevils later this week.

"I forgot to ask, how did you do on that exam I helped you study for?" Izzy smiled, swaying on the familiar bed of CC.

CC grinned, her eyes lighting up at the mention of the exam. "I didn't ace it, but I did much better than I usually do thanks to you," she replied, her voice filled with gratitude. "Seriously, I don't know what I would have done without your help."

Izzy chuckled, feeling a surge of pride at CC's success and knowing she had helped the girl. "I'm just glad I could help," she said modestly, though she couldn't hide the smile on her face. "And you're gonna do great in the game too, I just know it."

CC blushed, smiling at the girl she had feelings for. "Thanks." She glanced at a small strand of hair that was near Izzy's eye, and she instinctively brushed the dark strand behind her ear, but before she could think, she ran her hand through the girl's short dark hair.

As CC began to gently run her fingers through Izzy's hair, the atmosphere between them shifted, a subtle tension lingering in the air. Izzy's pulse quickened at the intimacy of the moment, her thoughts racing as she dared to entertain the possibility of something more between them.

Or maybe she was delusional.

"Do you mind if I style your hair?" CC asked before she could stop herself, and before she could take those words back, Izzy agreed.

"Sure," Izzy replied, her voice betraying a hint of nervousness as she tried to mask her excitement. The thought of CC's gentle touch, her fingers weaving through her hair with care and tenderness, sent a shiver down Izzy's spine.

As CC settled herself behind the younger girl, she began to work her magic, Izzy's eyes fluttered closed, surrendering herself to the sensation of CC's fingers dancing across her scalp. The intimate moment enveloped them, a cocoon of warmth.

"You have really nice hair," CC whispered softly, her breath tickling Izzy's ear as she spoke. Izzy's cheeks flushed with warmth at the compliment, a shy smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Thanks," Izzy murmured, her voice barely above a whisper as she struggled to find the right words. But inside, her heart was soaring like drums.

In that fleeting moment, as CC continued to work her magic, Izzy dared to imagine a future where their bond grew stronger, where their feelings blossomed into something beautiful and true. And for the first time in a long while, Izzy allowed herself to believe that maybe, just maybe, love was within reach.
