Izzy would die before telling CC that she loved the cafe she had brought her to yesterday. Quite frankly, this is where she had the best caramel macchiato. So was she passing by here to grab one to go? Yes she was.

"Surprised to see you here." CC's voice broke through Izzy's thoughts, causing her to turn around abruptly. She hadn't expected to encounter CC at the cafe. Or maybe she did, and her subconscious mind brought her here.

Izzy shrugged casually, attempting to mask her surprise. "Just felt like grabbing a drink," she replied nonchalantly, hoping to keep the conversation brief.

CC nodded, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. "Well, can't blame you. This place does have the best drinks."

Izzy couldn't help but agree, albeit silently. "Yeah, they're not that bad," she conceded, trying to hide the fact that she actually loved the cafe's drinks. "Guess you have some taste after all."

CC grinned, her eyes lighting up with amusement. "Hey, I'll take that as a compliment coming from you," she teased, nudging Izzy playfully. "Well, if you're waiting for your drink, mind if I join you?" she asked, gesturing towards the empty seat beside Izzy.

Izzy hesitated, her guard momentarily wavering. She looked out the window, and her sister wasn't here yet. Despite her reservations, she found herself nodding in agreement. "Sure, why not?" she replied, trying to keep her tone casual.

CC took the seat beside Izzy with a smile, settling in comfortably. "Thanks."

"How's your day been so far?" She added, attempting to start a casual conversation. Both of their drinks arrived, cups being set down on the table by the worker.

Izzy shrugged, her gaze fixed on the door as she awaited her sister's arrival. "Same old, same old." She replied vaguely, not wanting to delve into the details of her day. "What about you?"

CC nodded, understanding Izzy's reluctance to open up. She was glad she was even talking to her still. "Not too bad, actually." She answered, her tone upbeat. "Enjoying the thanksgiving break." She flashed Izzy a grin. "Glad I ran into you."

Izzy offered a small smile in return. "Yeah..." Me too, she wanted to add, but something in her stopped her from saying so. Instead she took a sip of her hot beverage.

CC sensed Izzy's hesitance, but she didn't push further. Instead, she leaned back in her seat, sipping her drink as they lapsed into a comfortable silence. She couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, she could get out of the acquaintance zone and form a friendship.

As they sat in companionable quiet, a hand on Izzy's shoulder startled her. She turned around, expecting to see her sister urging her to hurry up, but instead, she was met with Sophie's friendly smile. It seemed she had tagged along after all, and Izzy couldn't help but feel a sense of relief that Sophie was acting normal today, unlike the previous night when she was tipsy. "Sophie...we're going?"

"Yeah, your sister's waiting. Don't wanna get her too mad," Sophie replied with a playful grin, though there was a hint of seriousness in her tone. Izzy knew her sister could have a short temper at times.

Izzy glanced at CC briefly, offering a small nod. "See you later," she said before turning her attention to Sophie, swatting the older girl's hand away as she started ruffling Izzy's hair, walking out the doors.

Watching Izzy leave with Sophie, CC couldn't help feeling a twinge of disappointment at the interruption, but it's not like she could stop her. She couldn't shake off the curiosity about why Izzy always hung out with her sister after the drunk confession, claiming they weren't as close. It was a puzzle she couldn't quite solve.

And what was Sophie to Izzy? Why do I care?

Shaking off her thoughts, CC took a sip of her drink, trying to push aside the nagging questions. She had promised herself she wouldn't overthink things, especially when it came to Izzy. But as she sat there alone, she couldn't help but want to peel every layer of Izzy.

With a sigh, CC pulled out her phone, deciding to distract herself by scrolling through social media. Izzy had yet to accept her follow request on instagram, or add her back on her other socials. But she could tell she was making progress. Even if it was slow.
