Christmas break was something Izzy wished she could stay in forever. Spending all her time with her friends, sister, and her girlfriend.
It was her first time in forever she spent Christmas with her sister and she loved every moment of it, almost bringing her back to when she was little.
Later Izzy went over to CC's house to celebrate, giving her her old leather jacket she had always cherished. She had to admit, CC looked stunning in it. And CC gave her one of her favorite books which had already been fully annotated. It was the same book CC had bought when Izzy told her she probably 'couldn't read'.
Izzy then spent the rest of the day with her friends. They gathered at Olivia's house, where the living room was filled with twinkling lights and the scent of freshly baked cookies. The group exchanged gifts, each one thoughtful and personal.
Izzy couldn't remember the last time she felt so content and surrounded by love.
But as the beginning of the second semester rolled around, things quickly became mundane. Soccer season didn't start until February, leaving her with a void to fill.
Classes felt long and uneventful, the winter weather outside matching her boredom. She missed the excitement of the holidays and the thrill of the soccer field. However, the anticipation of the upcoming season kept her going, as did the small moments she managed to steal with CC after school. They often found themselves going out to eat together, practicing soccer, and most of all, hanging out at either one's home and making out.
In her free time, Izzy practiced on her own, trying to stay on top form for the upcoming season. She also focused on her studies, making sure to keep her grades up. Despite the monotony of the school days, she found comfort in the routine. She'd meet up with CC after classes, share laughs with Olivia and Maya, and spend evenings with her sister, Emilia.
As February approached, the excitement began to build. The first practice of the soccer season was already in session, and Izzy felt the familiar rush of adrenaline. Her heart raced at the thought of being back on the field, feeling the wind in her hair and the ball at her feet. With CC by her side cheering her on.
After practice, CC met her by Izzy's car, a proud smile on her face. "You were amazing out there," she said, standing up from her leaning position on the car.
"Thanks. It feels so good to be back."
"Ready for some food?" CC asked, her eyes twinkling, moving to the passenger side of the car as Izzy unlocked her car.
Izzy made a face, chuckling as buckling her seatbelt. "Let me shower first."
"I don't mind you being like this," CC whispered suggestively, leaning closer to give Izzy a peck on the lips.
Izzy blushed, nudging her shoulder. "You're gross," she joked, laughing softly as she started the car.
CC grinned, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "You love it."
Izzy rolled her eyes, but her smile gave her away. "Yeah, yeah. Let's get home so I can shower before we eat."
They drove off, the sun lowering by the minute, casting a golden glow over the town.
"I have a game next Thursday," Izzy said expectantly, glancing over at CC.
CC's eyes lit up with excitement. "I'll be there, front and center. Wouldn't miss it for the world."
Izzy's heart warmed at the response. "Good, I'll need my number one fan cheering me on."

The first goal comes quickly—Izzy received a perfectly timed pass, expertly maneuvering the ball past the goalkeeper and into the net. The crowd erupted in applause, and Izzy's teammates rushed to congratulate her.
Izzy glanced into the crowd, smiling as she sees CC cheering for her alongside her sister.
The sight of them made Izzy's heart race even faster. The support from her loved ones added an extra spark to her game, fueling her determination.
The second goal comes from a corner kick. Izzy positions herself perfectly in the box, timing her jump just right as the ball sails through the air. With a powerful header, she directs the ball into the back of the net. The crowd erupts in cheers, and her teammates rush to embrace her, their excitement palpable. She doesn't miss the way a defender from the opposing team bumps into her shoulder as she goes back to her spot.
In the second half, the game intensifies as the opponents' defense grows stronger. The score is now 2-1.
Izzy, determined, charges down the field with the ball. She spots her teammate in a prime position for a pass and prepares to make the play.
Just as she's about to kick the ball, a defender aggressively shoves her, sending Izzy sprawling to the ground. They tumble together, and as Izzy tries to regain her footing, the cleat of the opposing player digs into her thigh just enough to leave a painful scratch.
Izzy winces, the sharp pain momentarily clouding her focus. She quickly pushes the girl off her, trying to shake off the pain as she looks back at the referee, who is momentarily distracted by the commotion. Her teammates rush to her side, concern evident on their faces.
Maya and Olivia help Izzy to her feet, their eyes widening as they see the blood trickling down her leg. "Izzy, are you okay?" Maya asks, her voice tinged with worry.
Olivia, her face pale, examines the wound. "Don't know if it's the sun making it look like that or not but that looks deep. We need to get you off the field."
Izzy, though in pain, shakes her head. "No, I'm fine. I want to keep playing." She insists, determined not to let the injury sideline her.
Before Olivia and Maya can protest, CC runs to them, her eyes wide with concern. "Izzy, are you okay?" she asks, her voice filled with urgency as she takes in the sight of the injury.
Izzy tries to wave it off, but CC kneels beside her, gently inspecting the wound. "We need to clean this up," CC says firmly, her hands shaking slightly as she touches Izzy's thigh. "You're not going to do yourself any favors by pushing through the pain."
Izzy meets CC's gaze, seeing the genuine worry in her eyes. She hesitates, the pain more pronounced now that she's not moving. Finally, she nods reluctantly. "Okay, okay. I'll come off for a bit."
It wasn't really a choice—the coach, already noticing Izzy's injury and the blood seeping through her shorts, signals for her to be substituted out. Izzy limps off the field with CC by her side.
