It was the final game of the season, and the excitement was electric, the warm air of May adding to it. Both teams were geared up, ready to give their all. The stands were packed with cheering fans, their voices creating a lively backdrop to the game.

The game was intense, with both sides pushing hard.

When the final whistle blew, the score was in favor of CC's team. Cheers erupted from the winning side, and CC's teammates swarmed around her, celebrating their hard-earned victory.

Izzy, despite the loss, was smiling as she approached CC. Her teammates congratulated her, and she offered them her best, heartfelt thanks. When she finally reached CC, the two shared a warm embrace. CC's face was alight with triumph, her eyes sparkling with joy. A bittersweet feeling within them that this was their last game.

"You were incredible out there," Izzy said, her voice full of genuine admiration. "Congratulations on the win." and for once, she didn't feel an ounce of sadness or the need to prove anything to anyone.

CC beamed, her cheeks flushed from the excitement and exertion. "Thank you! It feels amazing. I couldn't have done it without my team—and you."

Izzy laughed softly, brushing a strand of hair from CC's face. "You guys were unbeatable today."

"Hey! You were both great out there," Emilia shouted as she jogged over "You played an amazing match, Izzy."

Izzy grinned, her eyes crinkling at the corners. "Thanks, Em."

Emilia grinned back, reaching out to give Izzy a hug before high-fiving CC. "Congrats on the win! It was such an exciting game."

CC's eyes sparkled with joy as she high-fived Emilia back. "Thanks! It feels amazing."

Emilia looked back at Izzy with a teasing smile. "I heard you on the phone with Olivia. I'm guessing there's a sleepover planned for tonight?"

Izzy laughed, nodding. "Yeah, we're all getting together at our place. It'll be a nice way to celebrate the end of the season."

Back at Izzy's place, the living room was filled with laughter and the competitive buzz of a Mario Kart match. Maya, Olivia, Ava, CC, and Izzy were huddled on the couch, controllers in hand, as they battled it out on screen. The coffee table was strewn with an assortment of snacks—Cheeseburgers, chips, and a few bowls of sweet treats. Ava was CC's friend, which Izzy and her friends were able to meet earlier this year.

Izzy leaned forward, her eyes focused on the screen, while CC sat next to her, playfully bumping her with her shoulder. Olivia, sitting on the other side of Maya and Ava, cheered as her character zoomed ahead.

"Come on, CC! You can't let Izzy win again!" Olivia teased, her character narrowly avoiding a blue shell.

CC smirked, glancing at Izzy with a determined glint in her eye. "Watch me," she said, her thumb moving expertly over the controller.

Izzy let out a playful groan as CC's character overtook hers, throwing a red shell in the process. "Hey!" she protested, leaning back as they all reached the end of the final lap.

Maya laughed, leaning back with a satisfied grin. "Finally!" she cheered, despite being one of the last ones.

"You didn't even win," Izzy said, grabbing a piece of popcorn and tossing it at Maya.

"But you didn't either," Maya shot back with a grin.

Olivia laughed, shuffling her controller and reaching for another bite of her burger, passing the bowl of chips towards Ava. "We should definitely do this more often."

CC nodded, smiling. "Agreed."

As the game continued, the room was filled with the sounds of playful banter, cheers, and the occasional groan of defeat. It was a perfect way to celebrate the end of the season and soon the start of summer, surrounded by friends and the warmth of shared moments.

"Seriously though," Maya said, setting her game controller down and looking around at everyone, "we should go on a trip or something. We only have a few weeks left before we graduate."

And the weeks flew by quicker than they expected, the final days of school approached, bringing a bittersweet excitement. The end of the semester loomed near, and with it, the promise of graduation. Izzy and her friends reveled in their last moments of high school life.

At graduation, amidst the sea of caps and gowns, Izzy managed to capture a quick selfie with her diploma, her cap and multiple others in the air, sending it to CC who was at her own ceremony. CC, in turn, snapped a photo of herself in her graduation attire, holding up her diploma with a proud smile alongside Ava.
