'Never thought you'd accept my request'

Izzy couldn't help but smile as she read the message. 'maybe youre not so bad after all'

As she made her way home from CC's place, her mind buzzed with a whirlwind of thoughts. It was hard to believe that just a few months ago, CC had accused her of stealing her dog. And now she was just at the very same place baking with the very same girl she thought she'd always dislike

It was a path Izzy was sure she was nervous about, but she had to listen to Maya's words. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad, and she could one day be fully open and comfortable with CC.

Lost in her thoughts, Izzy finally reached her doorstep, the familiar sight of her home offering a semblance of comfort amidst the turmoil within her. As she stepped inside, the sound of voices drifted from the living room. Emilia and her friends must be celebrating the last day of break with a few drinks.

Just as she was about to head upstairs to her room, Sophie emerged from the group, a warm smile on her face.

"Hey, Izzy!" Sophie called out, her voice carrying over the noise of the room. She walked over to Izzy, her steps confident and friendly.

Izzy returned Sophie's smile. "Hey, Sophie," she greeted, genuinely glad to see her. "What's up?"

Sophie brought her hand from behind, pulling out a cold drink. "I thought you might want one of these," she said, offering the drink to Izzy with a knowing look in her eyes.

Izzy glanced at the drink, recognizing it as an alcoholic beverage. She hesitated for a moment. "I have school tomorrow. I think I'm fine. Thank you, though."

Sophie's smile widened, a playful glint in her eyes. "Oh, come on, Izzy," she urged, her tone light. "It's just one drink. Live a little!" She nudged Izzy gently, her expression encouraging.

Izzy bit her lip in thought, the sound of Sophie's voice reverberated through the background, a mix of playful persuasion and gentle encouragement. Maybe one couldn't hurt?

Something about Sophie; she always seemed to convince anyone to do what she wanted.

Sophie leaned in closer, lowering her voice conspiratorially. "Plus, it's our last day of break. We should celebrate, right?"

Izzy glanced through the doorframe at the lively atmosphere of the living room. Maybe Sophie was right. Maybe she deserved to relax and enjoy herself a little. It also happened to be a while since the last time she drank.

With a hesitant smile, Izzy reached out and accepted the drink from Sophie. "Alright, just one. But I'm gonna be in my room," she conceded, her resolve weakening under Sophie's persuasion.

Sophie grinned triumphantly, clinking her can against Izzy's. "That's fine by me," she exclaimed, waving at Izzy before returning back to the living room. "Make sure you let me know when you have another game. We'll celebrate after."

As Izzy took a sip of her drink, she couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth spread through her. Sophie had always been so friendly and thoughtful, and Izzy was grateful to have her as a friend. Especially since she was the only one to ever make an effort to show up to her games.

Izzy sat at her desk in the classroom, surreptitiously typing away on her phone under the cover of her desk. Her fingers danced across the screen as she exchanged messages with CC, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips.

As she sent her reply, the sound of giggling approached from beside her. Izzy looked up to see Olivia and Maya both looking at her.

"What are you up to, Izzy?" Olivia asked with a teasing grin, leaning against the desk beside her.

Izzy quickly pocketed her phone. "Just texting," she replied vaguely, hoping to avoid any further interrogation.

Maya raised an eyebrow, a knowing glint in her eyes. "Texting who, hmm?" she pressed, nudging Izzy playfully.

Izzy squirmed under their scrutiny, her mind racing for a plausible explanation. "Oh, just a friend," she muttered, hoping they would drop the subject. Why was it so embarrassing to admit to her friends that she was texting CC now, after months and months of showing her dislike for the shorter girl.

But Olivia wasn't so easily deterred. "A friend, huh? Last time I checked, you were only friends with us."

Izzy's cheeks flushed. "Hey! I've told you about Sophie," she nudged her.

Maya nodded, looking up at the ceiling. "Ooh yeah. The one that started showing up to some of your games. She seems sweet."

Olivia chuckled, turning back to Izzy. "But come on, we all know you're not texting her."

"Spill the details, Izzy! How did it go? Are you two becoming besties now?" she leaned in eagerly.

"Fine, fine. Yes me and Walker are becoming friends now," she finally admitted, trying to downplay the significance of her recent interactions with CC.

Maya and Olivia cheered quietly in the classroom.

"You know you don't have to keep calling her by her last name right? Maya giggled.

Izzy chuckled, feeling a bit sheepish. "I guess it's out of habit now." she shrugged, a small smile tugging at her lips.

Olivia nudged Izzy playfully. "So, spill it. What's she really like? Is she as annoying as you always make her out to be?"

"She's not bad," Izzy confessed, surprising herself with her own admission. "She's actually kinda sweet and funny."

Maya and Olivia exchanged a knowing glance, their expressions filled with amusement. "Looks like Izzy's got a new friend," Maya teased.

Izzy rolled her eyes, but couldn't hide the smile that formed. "I guess I do."

The late afternoon sun filtered through the curtains of CC's bedroom, casting a warm glow over the cluttered desk where she and Ava were seated, textbooks and notes spread out in front of them.

CC let out a frustrated groan, running a hand through her hair as she stared blankly at the pages of her textbook. "I swear, Ava, if I have to memorize one more equation, I'm gonna lose it," she muttered, her voice tinged with exhaustion.

Ava chuckled, flipping through her own notes. "Tell me about it. This exam is gonna be the death of me." She half-joked, because unlike CC, she was a bit better at memorizing.

As they sat in silence, CC's mind wandered as she skimmed through her notes, the information going right through her brain and into the abyss.

"You know, from what you've told me, Izzy seems pretty smart," Ava suggested, breaking the silence. "Maybe you should ask her for help with studying. There's only so much I can do to help you memorize."

CC raised an eyebrow, considering Ava's suggestion. "Izzy? You really think I should?"

Ava nodded, her expression serious. "Yeah, why not? I'm sure she wouldn't mind."

The weight of the upcoming exam pressed down on CC, she knew she needed all the help she could get.

"I guess it wouldn't hurt to try," she relented.
