Victoria

When Saturday finally rolled around, Zak had texted me his ETA while I was frantically ensuring that my house didn't look like an awful mess. Though I'm always a clean person, I can't stand when something is out of place, and since I had been in my new house for almost a month with a few boxes still needing to be unpacked, I felt like I was in a hoarding situation.

I can't believe I have so much shit! And I can't believe I was able to stuff it all in my trailer and back seat of my truck in one trip!

I could see my three horses munching away on their alfalfa bales from my kitchen window, and I was glad to see that they were settling in better than I had thought they would since it was a drastic change for them.

When a knock rasped against my door, I would've jumped out of my skin if I wasn't expecting a visitor, but the fluttering in my stomach indicated that I had missed Zak more than I thought I did, and it was no fault of his own.

And that was a hard pill to swallow.

He looked visibly different, but he was still definitely a sight for sore eyes. His usual styled hair was hidden under a hat, but his dark clothing was nothing new. He had a backpack slung across his shoulder when he smiled at me, "My name is Zak, and I'm here in concerns to paranormal activity at this location." He chuckled, easily making me laugh.

"Unfortunately, you won't find none of that here," I laughed, shrugging. "But you may find an old friend at this location."

"That I may," He chuckled. "How are you?"

"Better than I deserve, but please, come in." I smiled, stepping aside to let him in.

"Wow, this is such a nice house." He complimented, hanging his backpack on the hanger next to the door.

"Thank you. I definitely got lucky when I found it. It has plenty of room for my horses, which was what I was most concerned about."

"I'm not surprised," He chuckled. "The drive up here was nice to look at. I've never been out this way before. Do you know of any haunted locations nearby?"

I chuckled, "I haven't been here long enough to even get my bearings around town, let alone if places are haunted."

"Well, I needed a reason to come back," He shrugged, following me into the kitchen before I offered him a drink. "It was worth a shot."

"I mean, you'd always have a reason to come back, even if it's not for work." I suggested, hopeful.

"I would love to, as long as it was okay with you."
